Hello forumites, just bought my first 4runner today. 1992 4runner SR5 4x4 AT. It's going to be a gift once i get the head gasket situation taken care of.
Anyway, i have a 93 ext. cab Yota w/ a 3VZE i had put in it from a junkyard purchase, love my truck, look fwd to getting started on fixing this 4runner up.
Tomorrow ( day 1) drain all the coolant, drain and flush engine oil, remove spark plugs & oil each cylinder, turn over to get fresh oil everywhere, and just let that be good enough until i get some $$ to get things rolling. I was quoted $1300 for a complete head gasket job ( both ). ...i'm assuming that includes any gaskets in the head gasket kit?...don't know specifics yet, but will get all info as i save $$.
I do upholstery so i can fix anything interior wise in the meantime, scrape off the hunting club stickers, and start cleaning the mud off the old girl. It's nice to have so much priceless T4R info at my fingertips, and look fwd to sharing stories and pics with everyone here.
I am fascinated @ all the extensive info on T4R blown head gaskets, the causes, the cures and all the stuff that goes along with the job, thanks for having me here.
Mike.
