HELP! 06 w/ XREAS lift question?

I know I am not the first to ask this but I am in a bit of a bind to get this done by next week. I have spent hours going through old threads about XREAS options, but still seem to be in the dark on my best option for a 2/3 lift. Seems like a lot of the threads are dated by 3-4 years. Just wanted to get some current info from someone who lifted with the xreas set up.

I was thinking Ready Lift. Does any have pro's or con's about Ready Lift?

I purchased 285-70-17 Cooper MTs. I will most likely not be doing the install now because of the xreas, honestly I didn't even know I had xreas because I thought it was just for the limited's... Rookie... I know... I would hate to break a line and have to take it to toyota and pay $$$$$$$ to repair it.

So I guess my question is do you recommend Ready Lift spacers with xreas??

Do you have a link to the spacers you are looking at? My understanding is that without replacing the entire X-REAS system, the only option for lifting an X-REAS-equipped 4Runner is a spacer kit. Is the Ready Lift kit somehow different than the other spacer kits mentioned in previous posts?
 
I'd advise a small spacer of sorts, I'm not too familar with the lift options for the amount you're looking for so no comment there. However, after leveling my 4runner with FJ springs and a spacer in the front, I'd say whatever you do, plan to use FJ Cruiser coils in your setup. You'll get about .5" lift in the front, and ~.25" (I think, I just did front) and really helped out with smoothing up the ride. The shocks are more firm, but this is needed and takes a lot of the small bumps out of the ride.

Most who get the Daystar report a little better than 2.5/1.5 gain.

Continue to read and study... Search for any thread by Ark_Swamp_Rider. Read about his lift even though it smaller than you want. His signature contains links to his awesome install thread with great how-to stuff that applies to most spacer installs. Also read this: 2007 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition Lift

@CJ3Flyr: The link you posted is for a non-X-REAS only. I believe the OP has X-REAS.

@mudmonkey: When you said you'd like a 2/3 lift, do you mean that you're trying to increase rake with 2" in the front and 3" in the rear? A more-common lift for members on this forum would be a 3/2 lift that almost levels the stance.
 
IMO, the readylift is over priced. if u get the 3/2 - Burtman Industries , u should be able to use those 285 tires with some trimming. follow JAs thread for that. u could also use the FJ springs with these for more lift ( check BLAIRBs thread) but that may stress the CVs later down the road.

Think I spent about 4 hours total going through old threads yesterday and still have not made up my mind haha. This forum is awesome and I am very impressed with the knowledge everyone shares. Thanks for replies.

leaning towards the Ready Lift spacers, maybe some wheel adapters (1.25)

I will post up final pics soon when I make my decision next week.

Wait a bit longer, save some $ and get the Toytec Ultimate............and save yourself the extra money since you'll probably being going that route a bit down the road anyway! I think you'll have less issues with trimming and tire fitment too.
 
If you want "updated information" keep reading... Most of the members on here who went with spacers (and burtman's are the best), have ended up with a coilover lift.

Seach for coilover, ICON, swayaway, king, etc.

Bottom line- XREAS sucks, I'm glad I pulled it and never looked back. The ICON coil overs are INCREDIBLE. Smoother and more controlled ride than factory, soaks up the bumps, and it adjustable in height. Well worth saving up for them. The suspension is cheaper than a set of wheels/tires and you get more out of it. My 60+ year old parents who drive Infiniti (FX45 and G35) both commented how how great the ride was in my 4runner. Don't know if that means much, but if "old" people like it, it has to ride nice right? I even accelerate for speed bumps then smile as the truck goes right over.
 
Putting 60+ and "old people" in the same sentence is going to get someone in a lot of trouble. ;):

zimm is right, before you pull the trigger you should at least look into the possibility of coil overs. As mentioned a huge percentage of people who started with spacer lifts, ended up ripping them out anyway. The universal feedback on coilovers are raves, and remember the spacers will not change the ride and / or handling, unless it's for the worse. Whereas the coilovers improve handling dramatically. In addition going to coilovers means your XRES concerns become mute. Good luck!

What ICON system did you install zimm?
 
While the results aren't as good as with a coilover system, it is possible for the spacer lift to improve ride quality. I went with a Toytec spacer and FJ springs, and the springs really helped smoothen out the ride. Yes, coilovers are a better option if you can afford it, but you can also go cheaper and get *some* improvement with the right setup.
 
Doesn't sound like the OP was asking about coilovers as an option.

Without further information regarding the Ready Lift spacers, it appears that they are an expensive version of the same type of spacers that others are running. To address your original question, I would recommend going with one of the other spacer kits that you have already read about on this forum. There doesn't seem to be any advantage to paying more for a new name-brand on essentially the same part.

I mostly agree and I would NOT spend the money on the Ready Lift. I have to hand it to them though; that is a super-sweet, super-easy install...
