Help a Noob out

So am I wrong? That looks like brown motor oil and not tranny fluid to me. Look above at the drivers side valve cover. Plus it's caked with dirt so it must be a slow leak.

At first I was wondering the same thing but the area around where I'm pointing is fresh and no signs of a leak elsewhere. The areas around the valve cover gaskets were a little dirty but again nothing fresh. Previous owner said he changed them but didn't take his word for it.

I just realized you have a 2wd and that oil is too far back. Hose it down with brake cleaner and watch for where it starts. Not much else you can do.

Haven't had much time to get under but I've kept her in the garage these past couple days and what do you know, no freaking leaking.

When you replaced the o ring did you clean up all the oil/fluid from the transmission after wards? If not it might not actually be leaking anymore and. Just fluid that already came out dripping off.

Used a dry cloth to wipe it down but didn't use any degreaser. May buy some tonight clean her up again and see how it goes.

Well it's been about a week and not one drop of oil from her.

Maybe she heard my convo of trading her in for newer one

Here's some more shotts for future troubleshooting. Fresh out of a Toyota crate from 2001. Pulled it off a 2wd tranny to make it a 4wd. (Stay tuned for write up). I decided not to scrap it since it's brand new and figured someone could use it. Lemme know if you do or need more pics.

Well WTF

So it's been a good while I had a leak and last night I decided to leave her outside just to make all is good. Well it isn't. Left her out last night and she left a nice little spot.

For the last couple weeks she has been inside with no issues. One day out she had a leak

Any ideas as what and why this may happen

My fluids are all good and unchanged.

Took apart the skid plat and cleaned that up since it was built up dirt and oil thinking it could be a cause to my unknown leak.
