HELP after brake pad and rotor change

Just changed pads and rotors, was a dummy and wasnt paying attention to which side each pad was on. I put on new wagner thermoquiets and there's only a squealer on one pad in each pair. Does it matter which side of the rotor this goes on?

On a "might be related" note.....everything is rolling and braking smoothly. However i noticed with the windows down when braking, i hear a slight metal to metal "clank" everytime i tap the brake pedal. It doesnt last long and doesnt sound like grinding. Anyone know what this could be?

Any help would be appreciated before i take it to a shop to fix whatever mistake i made....

If I'm correct there is a side the factory prefers, but it shouldn't matter which side of the rotor the squeler is on as long as there's one per rotor.

The squealer is to let the owner know that the pads needs to be replaced as it wears.

The clank to me sounds like something is not secured or installed correctly. What sounds like is happening is something with the pads or caliper is shift ing as you apply the brakes.

Before you take it in I would pull both wheels and compare each side to see if something doesn't look right and if you have a second person get them to apply the brakes while the wheels are off as you turn the rotor to see if you can see what is clanking. Also refer to a chiltons or the fsm for a n exploded view of the set up to make sure you did it correctly and if you still can't find it then take it to a trust worthy shop.

usually the wear indicator goes on the inside pad, but I know someone who uses them on the outside pad, so either one. The inner is chosen since it usually wears down faster.

Check your pins for binding. Use a little Sly Guide to lube them up.
