Help an idiot wire up LED's

I've spent I don't know how much time looking at diagrams and reading tutorials and still can't figure out how to get these lights to work. I tested them straight to the battery so I know they're good, it's just once the switch is involved everything goes out the window. I need someone to break it down in as simple of terms as possible what goes where. Great post. This can be applied to everything you want to turn with the "FJ fog light" switch.
