help broken screw

so i decided to change my oil today and when i was changing it i decided to set my sockets on my engine cover and of course one falls down into my skid plates and i couldnt reach it without taking of the skid. so i go to take out the bolts and snap goes the first one from being so rusted and the other looked the same has anyone else had this problem? what did you do? i ended up making a tool to get it out

on a good note i changed over to full synthetic oil and motor runs great

You could probably just run to the local Ace, HD, or Lowe's and pickup a replacement for the skid bolt....or so I'd think! I used to do my old (3rd gen) oil, but now with the 4th and having the V8, I can't even see where the damn filter is....so I leave it up to those scummy oil change shops, ha.

luckly i have the v6 it is the easiest oil change ever! especailly since i have a lift available to me

thanks for the link casper! i figured thats what i was going to end up doing is tapping and putting new bolts in. we got some really tough grade bolts at work for nuclear equipment that ill be able to get!

Oh, Yes. What a pain in the rear end!!! Went to Homedepot and bought a M8x1.25 tap with bit. I started off with smaller steel bits and snapped a the bit off inside the bolt I was trying to drill out. The Grabber extraction kit did not work from home depot but it helped drill out enough of the old bolt so I could get another steel bit in beside the one I snapped off.
This is what I noticed, drill all the way through. When using the bit that came with the Tap DO NOT ream or the hole will be too big when tapping. I used my small rachet with a socket to run the tap. The front new skid plate went up with new bolts nicely. I forgot to put antisize on it, will have to go back and do that to prevent rusting.
