Help - Clunk from Rear Differential

You could use a non-abs carrier, but that really doesn't exist since you need an elocked carrier. As far as I know the 4.30 gear ratio only came on elocker equipped 4runners. Like I said, you may need to look around different configurations on car-part, like 4.30 no locker, and you will probably find your part. I had an entire A04A axle lined up in Darlington, SC 2 weeks ago for 450 with 140k miles on it. That may be a good option for you.

So, all elocker carriers have ABS?

Well all 4.30 elockers do at least. I mean you could have ordered a elocker with a 4 cylinder but then it would be a 4.56. Most of them will be in limiteds and the 99-2000 SR5 Highlanders.

So...I finally found a worthy, used 4.30 rear carrier with e-locker and replaced my failing one.
I have to say that I was a little disappointed with the lack of carnage in my old carrier. Both the pinion and ring gears look in perfect condition, so I'm not sure which part was failing and causing the clunk and shimmy. Anyhow, the clunk and shimmy are now gone! This means that I'm going to sell my original carrier and the e-locker motor that came with the salvage part since I reused my original e-locker motor.

Anyone interested? Worse case is you could have it rebuilt or use it as the core on one from East Coast Gear Supply. I’m going to test the e-locker motor this weekend.
