Help!!! CV Boots gushing!!!

so I bought some metal hose clamps with the screw on head . I also cleaned the CV but how do I slide it off to add more grease before reclamping? The existing metal clamp is still on though a little loose as I can slightly squeeze the boot and a little grease will come out.

Sorry guys I am so unmechanical! I am usualy the write a check guy but I just spent 1300 in mods this month already!!!!

Thanks guys. I put on the hose clamps ( the screw down kind and it has slowed it down but did not stop the leak all together. Should I at least drive it until it starts making noise??? Or should I take them off and try to rebuild them with the help of a friend. Anyone around Yucaipa- San Bernardino want to help a newb? That or buy new ones and try putting them on. Is there a write up on installing new ones??? I have a few tools but am far from mechanical but I heard this isnt too hard.

After my stock CVs leaked almost all the grease out, and after the hose clamps eventually failed and tore into the boots, I duct taped them all back up. Then they completely shredded a few months later - all as I drove through a snowy winter using 4x4 a lot. And then I swapped em out the following summer because they were almost bare bones with a little bit of boot left here and there. They never did fail or even make a noise, so you're not in any imminent danger by an means. You could probably go years before one fails because of leaky boots.

Hey, no prob. Making sure is always a good thing to do. I have heard of people using 1 3/8" standard sockets as well, but I went with metric since everything else on our trucks is metric. I have also heard that some have used a 34mm socket, but I didn't want to take a chance of it being too small. It's better to be a tiny bit too big rather than too small to fit on there.

I do have a good torque wrench, but I don't think it goes that high. Damn, gotta buy another one.
I 'm going to order a 35mm socket today.

just want to give a gentle nudge towards doing this if your replacing the boots, if your just tightening the clamps up i wouldn't bother....

my plan is to get some oem cv's and do this boot mod and install them then keep my mastercrap ones from the flaps as trail spares.
