HELP!-D.I.Y A/C re-charge? How to needed =)

I have never had a/c work on a vehicle before and this one works but w/insufficient coolness

I bought a arctic freeze ultra synthetic 134a+

did I do ok or what do I need?

how best to drain/purge old out and shoot new in?

You only need to charge refrigerant if you see bubbles in your receiver sight glass.

To recharge, just follow the manual on the kit. To evacuate and recharge, you need a manifold gauge set, a vacuum pump. Here I'll post the shop manual for you. I'm having A/C problems, that's why I'm reading this lol.

what does shop manual state is desired lb/pressure once full?

is there any reason not to drain as much out as possible then fill as much as needed to get desired pressure? can you get air in the system?

Be sure it is not the older R12 system first, you did not say what year your 4runner is.

Check your front coils in front of the radiator to make sure they are not stopped up/dirty and that the clutch is kicking in on the compressor also. It could be more than low freon.

I might be the first guy to post a pic of the spot to put this damn can once I figure it out lol!

I searched the internet for anything,a schematic-nothin:reddance:

134a is supposed to only fit the low anyhow,and the bubbles will hopefully help too

I will post up pics and results later

I was @25,now at 25psi until compressor kicks on-then up to 45 which for instruction of interdynamic product psi should be 40-50 psi for 80F/ 45-55psi for 85F

it is 82F outside- I figure at 25-45 I should be fine w/ my kitchen thermometer temp of 52F air from A/C air from vent

-for the $20 bucks if anyone has 3rd gen toy 4Runner and wants to try to cool it yourself- do it- HOLD CAN UPSIDE DOWN- I forgot that for a second,purged some air and re-filled some more

..compressor is not designed to accept liquid freon from low side...unless u r charging with the motor off..then u can charge tru highside..n upside down

and your reply was completely wrong and ass backwards... never !!! touch high side and yes you hold the can upside down using the low side rotating it back and forth between 12 and 3 ....

[MENTION=117408]Oneluv13T4R[/MENTION] lol, do enough a/c research you would realize am right, though apart from shaving off a few minutes in the recharge time..it has no added benefit..

and oh, i forgot to add.the hiside refill ops is done only when you have vacuumed the system , thus the negative suction pulls the liquid freon in.
messing with the hiside any other time is risky, most rattle cans cant handle more than 170psi...and the hiside pressure usually exceeds 200psi
