Help Diagnosing problem!

Having a problem with my 92 4runner sr5 and I'm hoping someone here can help identify what is going on.
Yesterday while driving in 4x4 the "rear anti lock" light came on, Then the gas gauge dropped from quarter tank to empty very fast and gas light came on, then for some reason the gas guage shot up all the way to FULL then and engine died. I thought it was empty on gas so I went and got 10L but then It still wouldn't start. Does that give any clues as to what it could be? I thought it might have something to do with the ethnol gas? Or could it be a wiring/short issue?

Wiring I'm guessing bad ground somewhere or a short. It's possible that the rear antilock and fuel pump wires

OK and would that explain the truck not starting at all now?

Yea if the wires were shorting it would blow the fuse and the fuel pump would be getting no power now. I'd check all the efi and abs fuses

The thing is the truck is stuck at the top of a mountain 20km away.What fuses should I buy before going back and where are the fuse panels to check?

Just buy a variety pack that has a couple of each amperage... the fuse panels are 1: by your left foot if you're sitting in the drivers seat 2: under the hood on the passenger side

Just popping in a new fuse isn't going to fix your short/electrical problem though and you're likely to just blow another fuse, if that's even the problem...

Ya it could also be your ecu. I'm just guessing but its possible for sure

If it ever happens again that you need some fuses while on the trail, you can normally nab a few from things like internal lights and the radio. Like has been said you'd want to try to figure out the problem first so you don't just blow the replacement too.

Or just buy some extra and keep them in your glovebox or rear box with the jack. I tend to nab a few of these and sometimes even some relays at the pick-n-pull if I'm there for other things.
