HELP: Driver's Seat has something heavy loose?

So my driver's seat is firmly attached to body, but there is something under my seat that is heavy and moves from side to side when I make turns. It feels like there is a metal drawer under my butt with a very heavy object in that almost fills the drawer but not quite, so it slides side to side when I make turns and it is VERY noticeable...

I had someone tell me that there was some computer under there that controlled the airbags and the stereo and that it was a serious problem if it was loose...

Any ideas??

I don't recall there being anything major or heavy underneath from when I did my heated seat install.

It takes 3-5 minutes to take the seat out and check. Pop the caps off the rails and unscrew the four bolts. Unplug the two? wiring harnesses and profit

Maybe it is a bar of gold? Lump of coal? all depends on which list you are on...

x2 on remove the seat, but you might want to just reach under there and see what you find first. if it is that big and heavy, it ought be obvious. :bigok:

I remember a while back that one of the cross bars has a weak point that can break over time, there are a few members that have torn it down and re welded the joint and that seems to fix it.

I agree, stick your hand under there and feel around, or in case it's something alive:jaw: use a flashlight and look, if no luck then do what others have suggested and remove the seat and do further investigation, could be something that slid under the seat from the back, etc., let us know what you find, this has me on the edge of my seat! op2:

There is a TSB out for seat movement under certain conditions on the early 4th gens....toyota was replacing the seat frame.

I have done everything but remove the seat.

I asked because if there is a computer or something under there sensitive I did not want to just start pulling the seat out without some knowledge first.

I will remove it and see.

The lack of info is the reason you got some non-helpful replies.

You never stated what you have done or not done to discover what the issue is, you only stated you have something heavy moving under your seat and nothing more, other than what you think it feels like.

You haven't given any info on your 4 runner, year model, power seats?, heated seats?, etc., all of which is pertinent to what could possbily be loose under your seat.

It's hard to help without much info to go on.

There's no SRS ECU under the seat.
