HELP! Having a hard time sourcing down a popping noise.

2007 t4r sr5 V6 4wd. 171,000 miles.

Last week I replaced all 4 rotors, all 4 sets of brake pads and the caliper on the drivers side front. everything was fine, I bed in the brakes, no problem. on that Monday morning I go to work and I hear a popping noise under hardish braking, its rotational (going pop, pop, pop as the car moves).

I talked to my trusted mechanic and he said it could be ball joint. so I replaced lower ball joint and upper control arm on that side. Still popping. Now it is easier to make the popping noise under braking.

The only thing I can think of is sway bar links. mine look like shit, they are leaking new grease and I THINK that is the issue. I have some on order and will put those and new sway bar bushings in to see if it cures that.

BUT, what do you guys think? is that it? is it a bad (new) caliper?

I had what i believe to be the same popping sound occuring from under my 99 4runner! Mine was my own fault because after buying and installing new sway bar links i didnt actually tighten one bolt down as far as i should have. Once i figured that out everything went back to normal! Sway bar links are probably the issue. Best of luck!

If it was not there before you did the work then it's most likely the work you did
Instead of throwing parts at the problem
Retrace your steps and triple check everything
If it's rotational and under braking there is no way it could have ever been a ball joint or a sway bar
Those parts don't spin or have anything to do with brakes
