Help installing clear corners

I ordered some clear corners off Ebay and just got them today. I've got them off but there's a small problem: when I go to connect them, the little plastic things don't match up.

I've made sure they connect back on the old ones and saw which way they are supposed to go but its almost like the new corners connecters are a bit bigger than the old.

I don't know what to do...?

Are you positive you got the correct parts for the year of your 4runner? Or they design could be faulty. I would double check that first and then if it is all correct then you could still possibly melt them or just bend them a little to fit if it isn't too far to change.
