Help - Leak - What is it?

Hi.

Need some help identifying this part. It is leaking what looks like coolant or transmission fluid (dark red). I thought it might be part of the cooling system for the transmission. It's at the bottom of the radiator near the drain valve.

Transmission fluid.

Replace that oem clamp with a different clamp that you can screw tighten.

Yes, transmission fluid (cooling) lines. That's horribly corroded. Better replace it; don't want that to fail & pump out all the trans. fluid.

Thanks for the quick responses. The leak is really bad- I think it was coming from the line and not the clamp but I will certainly try the clamp first.

Dont touch it unless you have the new lines they will break I just replaced those on both my runnersi got them from toyota and if I remember right they were less than 100 bucks order new squeez clamps the screw type you have to constantly re tighten. Its just two bolts that hold the liines to the frame

Where did you replace it from and to? I didn't look to see how far these lines go.

I ordered the Chilton and Hayes manuals- not sure if this is covered in either. Does anyone know?

Prob not covered but it is amazingly simple they go from one side of the rad to the other remove front skid plate disconnect both ends from the hoses remove the 2 bolts and install the new one fluid will drip out of the lines youll just have to top up with the proper fluid

Be careful with the repair. If possible try to catch all the fluid that leaks in a graduated container so you know the exact amount to replace. WS fluid has to be checked when up to operating temp but doing catching your fluid in a graduated container should save you time and money.

Since it has been leaking, I would top off using the proper procedures anyway. It's probably already a little low.

I appreciate everyone's help. I just wanted to let you know I ordered the part today $70 +tax. I'll update the thread afterwards and let everyone know how I make out.
