Help! Lift with KDSS?

hi guys and gals,

I am shopping hard for a 2014 TE....I know KDSS is a very desirable option for the TE but how much lift can I add and still utilize the KDSS?

I plan on running either 285/70/r17 or 285/65/r18...with a small lift. (aprox 32.7 inch tall tire)

Lastly, what's the best way to clear the for mentioned tire size...by best I mean most bang for your buck, not necessarily the cheapest but I am not looking to spend a fortune either...like for a icon stage 4 lift.

Can anyone tell me what lift they would recommend and if it would conflict with KDSS. BTW just so you guys know, the 4runner will see 90 percent of its life on the road..Thanks!

3'' i think is about all the KDSS can handle, anything more than that on these rigs you'd want longer sway bar links or disconnects when going offroad, which you can't do with KDSS.
So with that said, any 3'' and under lift out there will work with KDSS. Typically if you're wanting to run 33's your gonna want a 3'' lift.

Thanks! I doubt I will ever go bigger than 3". Now for the frustrating part-trying to find a dealer that will sell me a TE for a good price. Local, in person efforts are exhausted-I am looking at a non premium TE with KDSS and I cannot get the dealer below 37k otd before state sales tax..... grrrr:uzi:

I rarely hear the noise if ever. There one left turn on my way to work that I hear it and other than that, never. I was able to get a fully loaded trail with kdss out the door for 36,000. Good luck and listen for the side mirror whistle. If you hear it, there's a TSB for it and tell them to fix it.

OP- "Out The Door " means what you pay in full. It makes no sense to say "OTD before tax and licensing" .

okay okay...let's get technical on the internet. Thank you for the clarification. I am an out-of-state buyer so I was considering that price OTD because I am literally going to pay 36k then walk out the door. I will pay sales tax when I get to the dmv and register the vehicle.
 
My bad, I guess that's why your post was confusing to me. I live in California and I thought you did tax and licensing at the dealer everywhere. Learn something new everyday. :doh:

For what it's worth I paid $37600 OTD .....white Trail, only options KDSS and Entune. Didn't want the Entune but was unable to find any in my region with KDSS and without Entune.

No worries. I was kinda harsh too. Here's the deal I have now-silver TE with nav, kdss and clear bra -35.5 OTD plus 1,050 in sales tax when I register it in New Mexico. My sales tax is only 3%....however the TE is enroute to the dealer so I can not lock in toyotas current zero percent financing that ends on May 5th. If toyota doesn't continue it, I may just wait a few more months, year whatever. Surely, hopefully they will. I'm not going to pay more because I couldn't strike a deal within a narrow window.
