It's been a few years since the last post...but I ran across the thread looking for ways to clean my platic. I wanted to vote in favor of the plastic panels - when they are matched with silver paint anyway. To me, the benefit of fewer door dings and paint chips all around the bumpers outweighs the better look of painted ones. Plus, I bought some wheels from an 18 Taco that have the grey paint on them (before it was switched to black) and it looks pretty nice. I've had mine 6+ years and I wouldn't let it hold anyone back from purchasing one, everything else being equal.
