okay as most know, i recently recked my car. it is not totaled. but 6800$ to repair. but they said it might be a salvage if we deciede to keep it it will be a salvage. what i want to do is tow it down somewhere take all my after market off and replace all of it with oem parts. IM NOT SELING THE LIFT!!! i just want to buy cheap oem parts from anyone that has useble ones

I have stock rear springs from my 98, factory Upper control arms and panhard bar. for some reason I didnt keep the factory front stuff.
 
I have stock springs (FR & RR) and a chrome fat lip from an 02, may still have the front struts? I live in San Antonio, PM me and we can discuss
 
I have all the stock suspension stuff from my 99

struts
coils
Bilstien shocks

They are yours just pay the shipping... Oh and a stock fat lip silver or black bumper

That is crazy. It is a 96 4runner with $6800 worth of damage. It is totaled. I would wait to see what the insurance company finally says. What is the Insurance company willing to give you on your 96 4runner? How much is the buy back?

I wouldn't rush to swap all these parts out. Buy it back. Keep the parts you want, sell the engine and tranny for the cost of the buy back. Keep the insurance check for you next 4runner.
 
I have a complete front and rears stock suspension from a 02.
Even have the stock panhard bar and rear links
And the front calipers and rotors.
Ooh and a 02 fat lip bumper in thundercloud
Might even have a few more stock parts.
Not sure if shipping will be worth it for you.
 
Its more then a 96 4runner To me lol. Besides 138k miles new paint

I'm confused. So if they car is not totaled and they fix it and give it back to you, it should not be a salvage car. If they total it and you buy it from them it should be a salvage. If you are keeping it why put stock equipment back?

Sorry Im using totaked incorrectly. It's totaled as in it would cost more to fix then its worth. Its fixable though. they want to total it because air bags were deployed
 
Having been in a 4 car wreck it doesn't matter on suspension, frame whatever is damaged. They don't consider the vehicle totaled till over 70% of the value, so if he changed some of the value it could have been considered total'd....

Sad news that they just want to fix it...but insurance companies are only their to make a buck not for our benefit...

What are your goals? It makes no sense to repair the truck and then try and sell it. NO SENSE AT ALL. This is because it will be a salvaged title and even after all the repairs which you don't know how do yourself (i gather), the truck will be worth very little $$ due to the salvage.

1. It would an decent idea to repair it cheap and KEEP IT for yourself. The idea is to take the $6000 check (hopefully :) ) and then repair it cheap, keeping extra cash for loan payout or parts purchases in the future. That is what PikeMan did.

2. Or part it out. Take the truck and part it out! The engine will be worth a few $$ along with the rest of the the car.

What you are describing is taking a salvaged title car, fixing it cheap, pulling off all your parts (many of which are probably slightly out of whack now), buying used or OEM parts, installing them, then selling the truck for 50% retail value (due to salvage) and lastly going to start another new build. Cost wise this makes NO sense.

Someone needs to chime in here BUT if you buy it back salvaged and DO NOT plan on ever selling it, I don't think you have to repair the airbags. Just put a custom steering wheel on there. The airbags are probably $3k of the price.

If you can repair it and keep it then do it! That truck had a good engine, body, and tranny and low miles. It will still have all of those things afterwards.

If you are rich enough to waste the money then by all means do it - we will enjoy the build pics. :)

All my parts lift wise are fine... The goal is to swap out all my after market before i get the check that way i can keep it all for my next runner. Not repairing a totaled car. Then part out the rest of the car. Because im worried the lift and bumper is going to up the salvage title price

That sounds like good idea! I thought you were going to install the OEM parts, repair the truck and then try and sell it as a salvage.
 
Pikeman's salvage price was like 1300 with all of his aftermarket equipment. I don't think it will up yours at all.

Insurance companies could care less. If you don't buy it back, it goes to Salvage auction where the highest bidder wins.

They will calculate the buy back using some sort of guide and milegage. And with it being over 100k, they will just be some type of flat rate.

Bottom line, They will sell it to you at the same price with your stuff or oem stuff on it.
