Help ME!!!

Yeah, insurance companies don't care about mods and usually will not pay you any more with or without them. They don't even care about the condition of the truck mechanically or cosmetically. They simply go by miles and age. And like singtoe said, after 100K it'll be some flat rate most likely. You could gold plate the whole truck and install diamond trim and the insurance company will still pay you the same as a stock truck (or sell it back to you at a stock truck's "value").

I am just back on the road after deploying my airbags...I had my body shop put in "used" but certified airbags and replace the module as well as clockspring and put a new windsheild in. The total for all the work was 3460.00...on my 98.

The 99+ models have seat belt pretensioners as well as two sensors in the front fenders. I would recommend e-bay the airbags from a reputable source and pay the body shop an install for you. This should keep the price down probably total for 1500-2000. If you do not care about re-sale (like me) and will probably drive it into the ground just put an aftermarket steering wheel on it put the cover over the passenger dash and move on. I replaced my airbags and stuff since my now 13yr old will be driving it soon and I could not live with myself if she got hurt when it was something I could have simply fixed.

The other option would be to find a gently used one for your 6g and start over...take off what you can and move on they are never the same after a wreck like that. I was fortunate mine was mostly cosmettic since I deployed while pulling out a stump...

I am surprised the shop allowed used airbags, they are usually very nervous about anything but new since there is so much liability with them. Even if you provide all the parts, they could still be hit with liability in a crash.
