Help! NAV back-up camera not working

For no reason at all, the back-up camera in the NAV just decided to quit working. When the truck is in reverse, all I get is a black screen and I have no idea on how to fix it.

Anybody have any ideas on what it could be?

Any help is surely appreciated.

Thanks.

is this one you added? If so, make sure the power connections to the camera are still making it out to the camera...

No, it's the factory NAV.

And the strange part is that the rest of it works fine, it's just the camera that is bad now.

While I'm sure you've already checked this...

You might want to make sure the camera isn't "switched off" via the "REAR OFF" button on the Display option of the NAV screen.

I did that, and here's the strange part - the "Rear Off" button on the display is highlighted in that teal color and I can't get it to change.

Help?

The "rear off" button controls the rear seat audio. That button shoud always be highlighted when the rear seat audio is off. It sounds like maybe the camera has some dirt on it.

Nope, camera is clean, that's the first thing I checked.

I'm stumped.

sounds like a trip to the local toyota repair place to get it fixed under warranty then, eh? I've seen a couple of other posts about factory systems w/ the camera dying and needing to be replaced. so it's not unheard of.

Old Thread but anyone else have this happen to them lately. At first the picture was scrambled but not its just black with a small scramble on the side. I have factory navigation.

There is a technical service bulletin and and extension of warranty on the camera. Contact your dealer.

I had a short that took them a very long time to find. They replaced the camera and the radio first. When they tested the wiring it all tested out fine.

I found the following

TSB No.: 07015 NHTSA No.: 10023698 TSB Date: October 16, 2007 Date Added to File: January 25, 2008
Failing Component:
Unknown Or Other
Summary:
Customer support program - warranty coverage extension on certain 2004 - early 2005 my 4runner, land cruiser and sienna vehicles equipped with the optional rear (back-up) camera.

and heres a link to the page i found----

Hope it helps.
