Help needed after lift!!!

Hey all, got the lift installed and all was well. I got the alignment today then when I got home I was going to put the skid plates back on and climbed under the car but the got side tracked. The wife drive down the road to pick up the little guy and came back home. Now I club under and I see this gray geese around the end of the cv boots like. What do I do? It's a Daystar 2.5/1.5 kit. The alignment shop didn't say anything. We are supposed to go to the mountains in two weeks on a honey moon and now I'm freaking out because of this!!

Don't worry, this is very common when you lift the truck because of the change in CV angles. It likely just needs to be re-clamped which can be done with a hose clamp from an auto parts store. If the boot is torn, you can either replace the axle or reboot it.

I was under the impression that rebooting an inner boot requires you to completely remove the axle. Is that correct?
 
It looks like the boot got pulled off the ridge on the shaft. just try to seat then back on there. How bad are the cv's leaking?

Mine leaked a little after I installed my ds lift, because they pulled off. But I wiped them off and shot some more grease in there and they've been fine ever since.
 
Mcmaster care sells clamps with rounded edge clamps for silicone hoses. If the boots are not torn use these for a long term fix. ( quick shipping, check toyota120 for the p/n's). In the short term for the honeymoon, clean them up and use a new clamp and figure it out after the honeymoon. First things first, ya know what I'm saying'!!!

Just found the toyota120 thread. Thanks for the help guys. It's been one thing after another lately. The wife is already in panic mode alpha and I don't know how much more i can take before I hit freak out mode. This was about to be the icing on the cake but you guys brought me back down hahaha thanks a lot for all the quick responses I will have this done tomorrow. I gotta get under there anyway.

I tell ya what this wedding stuff gets stressful!!! I'm ready for our week in the mountains with a hottub!!!
 
My 4runner did this when I lifted it also. Try to find some narrow hose clamps to use. IIRC, some of the hardware stores carry a slightly narrower clamp than the auto parts stores. The narrower clamp fits a little better.

As for the wedding, show concern but don't stress out. Whatever doesn't go perfect on the big day, both of you will laugh at years down the road. Congrats.
 
Thanks again guy. I called the napa here and they have a silicon hose clamp I'm the size I need. He said it has rolled edges so it doesn't cut into whatever it's on. Sounds like what I need so I'm picking them up today as soon as they come in. Should I try to put some more grease in them?

Any suggestion on the best way to do that? The thread on toyota120 seemed like he had a hard time with the syringe

That's a pretty accurate quote, I think. I paid $150 for a reboot from a local shop I go to and trust completely. I'm surprised Toyota didn't try to sell you a new axle instead.

they haven't thrown enough out to cause an issue.
slap the clamp on there, it will be fine.

I was at the alignment shop again today. The cams are seized in the lower control arm bushings so they cant correct the camber for the lift. GREAT!! Wishing I would have waited to do the lift until after the wedding stuff was over. Even if I do the labor its gonna be $372 in parts from toyota(stangly they were cheaper than any parts stores)

I don't have the time or money for it right now. Do you think it will cuase enough wear on the tires to cause a problem for a few hundred miles? that way when we get back I can work on it and hopfully have the money for it which is the bigger issue. I understand things happen and it seems this is fairly common it just couldn't have been at a worse time haha.

Should only cost about $120 if you can do the work yourself
Its not that hard
It can be done in an afternoon
You can use the moog bushings and the new "fixed" moog greaseable cam hardware
This way you will never have this problem again

Do you have a link for these? Every where I've looked have been into the 3-400's

Awesome! Thanks. Is the cam kit maybe k100128? Nothing comes up for k00128 but k100128 is what comes up for a 4runner. Do I need just one kit for everything or one for each side? Also I see the bushings are listed for a tacoma but nothing comes up for a 4runner, I guess they are the same?
