Help needed Transmission Filter Part#

Finished the project with 60020 and 60030 in hand

What came out of my 99 4x4 was 60020

That is what shows up when I reference my VIN. I doubt the 60030 will hurt in the short run, if ever, but I used what came out of my 99.

I ordered the 60030 for my 99 4x4 Limited and took the pan off today and found out there's a 60020 there. Guess i'll be calling dealers around me to get the 60020 tomorrow.

Did this 340F oil strainer P/N thing ever get nailed down? I'm doing this next weekend in a spot that I need to be able to drive away from (my work parking lot - no overnight parking ) I'll order by VIN and hope for the best. Mine is an early 2000 (February). Thoughts?

I ordered mine by vin ( 2/2000 production date) and it was the 35330-60030 part number and fit and worked perfectly. I did the same when I ordered valve body plate gaskets when I put the shift kit in.

I popped my (early 2000) VIN into a couple online Toyota sites and it says both the .....20 and ....30 fit my vehicle. Guess I gotta order each.....weird. Timmy's video states the ...30 is what we want but the link in his video goes to a ....20 strainer.

Ok I dug a bit and here is what I found.

Valve body type 1 has 2 fluid ports on the strainer or 35330-60020 part #.

Valve body type 2, 3, 4 have 3 fluid ports on the strainer 35330-60030 part #.

So until you drop the strainer or id the valve body type you won't know. Hate to say it, but probably will need to buy both and return the one you don't use.

Did this guessing game on my 01 born 11-2k VIN search it's listed a 2k.
60030 is listed as the one to get from 8-99 on, it worked/fit my 01.

In a way I'd call it VB version mods. VB2 1st of 3 port 8-99, casting change in VB3
VB4 solenoid pressure control to end of run 04 iirc, have VB4.
Lead in to the nanny controls of Trac/VSC ABS/MC of 01 on. That,
Screwed up a really good Trans.

Had an early production 99 Miata rev happy 4 banger driftin cones. Good times.

That's some great information and I was hoping the S/N tag on my tranny would solve the valve body type puzzle. It's probably encoded in there somewhere but I'm not seeing it at first glance. I will post which strainer fits ny tag and maybe we can make some correlation with other people's tags/strainer type in the future. The '30' in the Model Number would be too easy, right? Thanks again for posting that info

That's what I thought at first but I didn't want to assume.... that the 20 correlates to the 2 port and 30 refers to the 3 port..... that would be to easy. But you never know. I can jump under the car tomorrow to get my tag.

My tag is: Mod. 30-40LE 35000 3G170 Ser. 00LR 42349
35000-3G170 is Trans Toyota part number.
Toyota or Sonnax on phone could not tell me what VB I had without pulling pan.

August has always been model/version change date.
8-2k drive by wire TB on 01-on introduced is VB4 which I have.
Your number being superseded would think extra digits would be on tag
and VB3 would be on superseded part number trans to end of model year.
You being 2-2k 6 months into model year I'm guesstimating you're on tail end of VB2
mid-year is preferred timing for version changes in auto industry.

Yes - hopefully I can confirm this soon. Might be a couple of weeks now that I think about it, but hopefully we can nail it down. I remember a Toyota parts counter guy asking me if mine was a pre-August model when I was buying a radiator cap of all things on a road trip a few years back. Thanks for the input yall.

Swapping VB2-VB3-VB4 Serial number would tell, been told that info buried somewhere in Japan.
Since you're both 2-2k compare serial #'s, VB ver. a difference would narrow it down I think.

LOL I meant it might be a couple weeks before I get around to dropping the pan and seeing which one of the 2 I'll order fits. I've put in a good 2 years of lagging on this already....

When I finally got around to the job yesterday, my early 2000 used the '30' strainer. Mine also had a rubber gasket that came off with no trouble. I pity the next fool who cracks my pan - I was carefully laying down a nice, thick bead of Toyota 'Seal Packing' FIPG and realized I had been dragging by sleeve through it! Big thick mess LOL but no leaks. I really Packed the Seal on that one!! Decent amount of magnetic sludge.
