Help - Rear wiper/defrost stopper working

Hey Guys,
Got into my TE the other day and went to put the rear defrost and rear wiper on but no dice... Wiper wouldn't move and light did not come on on the defrost button. Prior to this I opened the rear door and there was a bit of ice between the door and body that did a bit of crunching. I inspected both cables (fully enclosed) that go from the door to body and they were damage free. Due to lack of time I have not been able to do any trouble shooting other than checking the fuses (which were good).
Any thoughts on what this might be before I spend a few hours trouble shooting that will ultimately lead to me bring the truck back to the dealer to have it looked at??

I had this issue earlier this year...same thing. Brought it to the dealer and you know what it was? The rear window was not ALL the way up! I felt like a dummy. If that thing is barely down, it will disengage the wiper and defroster. Tried taking the rear window down, then all the way up. See if that works.

My dealer and I have an understanding. When it's something this dumb I pay him a extra $10 and he writes Repair Dodad on the invoice. Everybody wins.

Problem solved. Window was down just a touch.
Better to look like a fool on here then feeling like an idiot at the dealership!

Same thing happened to me two days ago. I'm still coming to grips with how dumb I felt after figuring out the window was down... Whoops!

Thats ok. I was on my way out to my dealership because my rear window wouldnt roll up or down....then I realized the window lock was on....:shrug:

yea, well, i probably should have mentioned I had just gotten back from a 8 month long deployment to afghanistan. but hindsights 20/20 lol.

I'm a new 4Runner owner, all of my previous cars had a window lock that prevented everyone EXCEPT me from controlling the windows (i.e. kids). On the 4R, it locks ALL of the windows except mine.

That seems to be a "Toyota" (and/or other "import") thing. My girlfriends car lets you lock the windows, but she can still roll any of them up and down. (But the passengers can not) However, in my 4runner, if window lock is active, the only window I can roll down is my own (I can't roll down the passengers, etc either). I'm not sure why it's designed this way, but that's how it is.

In my case the window lock is there so when I have Led Zep blasting my 5 year old can't open the window and jump to freedom. So far so good.

Haha, friend got in my 4runner today and asked the same thing. I rolled up the window and then everything worked...
