Hey guys...need some help. I recently purchased a semi-well used axle with the legendary E-Locker! Has roughly 150,000 miles on it, with no noises, no leaks and the E-Locker motor works. If it weren't for the mis-matched gears...I'd throw it under the Toy as is....but since Toyota made retrofitting E-Lockers difficult, I now have a winter project! Thank you Toyota!!!
I basically want a new axle when I'm done. That way it's done and done right the first time...and I won't have to worry about it for another 150-200,000 miles.
So my question for yall is: what needs to be rebuilt/replaced on our rear axles? As already stated, I know I have to get rid of the 4.30 gears since they won't work with my 4.10's. I plan on sending my 3rd member (and front clam shell) out to East Coast Gear Supply to get loaded up with 4.88's.
Is there any bearings or seals that need replaced? Is there a rebuild kit for the electric motor or anything for the E-Locker itself that's prone to wearing out?
Thanks guys...I appreciate the help. Figure this axle re-build will be a nice winter project. I have a fall birthday and then Christmas to get all my parts
. Then I have my tax return to pay for the front...and if all goes well, I'll have it all rebuilt...ready to go by spring!!
That is...if my wife/mom doesn't forget my birthday...and if Santa doesn't skip my house cause I've been too naughty...and if Obama doesn't order the IRS to steal (I mean seize) my tax return cause Im a republican...lol!!
Thanks in advance
Russel
