Just noticed this issue this week, can reproduce it every time.
Notes- 99 4runner, 4x4, auto, 130k miles on car. Trans is a used that was installed as is from a junkyard (supposedly with similar miles).
The issue- When going in reverse, everything is like normal than as soon as I get above 10mph the pedal "gives out" and the RPMs jump just like it would if in neutral. As soon as I slow down enough than I can go again, but it will once again repeat when going too fast.
Additionally, today I was in a drive through for about 5 minutes idling and it stalled, it has never done that before. I have had the truck since november and have put 3k miles on it with no problems. I have installed a new radiator and an inline external trans cooler when I first got it after the initial transmission problem.
Fluid levels and temps are good (have a torque OBD reader on phone and check it a lot). Also, there are no similar issues when in drive. This may have been an issue since I got the vehicle but I never went that quick in reverse until the other day, so I am not sure if this is a new issue or just a newly discovered one. The normal back out of a parking space etc has and still is smooth with no issues.
Any thoughts?
