Help Sought - Built 3rd Gen FS

With my sulking done...

Have brake boosters been successfully swapped into an 01-02? Maybe not using the best search terms, but I have not yet found such a thread...

Thanks.

Tyler James Inc just did it...currently trying to get him to do a write up. It "should be" as easy as installing a VSS for your speedo and then installing the brake booster and MC from an earlier model (give or take a few brake line adjustments).

You all are quite a wealth of resources! I've been on a few automotive forums over the years, and this group is exceptional in their knowledge and willingness to help.

Thanks Mauzer, that sounds encouraging.

Jayjayb96, thanks! Is it a limited (leather seats)? Paint also oxidized? I imagine modified. PM if easier or more desirable...

Tbh he just bought it recently. He already has an lc80 but jumped on this because of the locker/motor etc but he decided he rather keep the landcruiser and build that. It does have leather, paint looks decent, its green and looks to have either painted or plastidipped cladding. Pm if you wanna text my buddy for more info but keep searching. Youll end up finding an awesome deal

Wow, 7 pages to this thread. Curious to see what you end up getting. I got mine this past July and it was definitely a process, wish I had taken some more time to research.

Ended up with a 97 SR5 with 215K, no locker. Hood and top faded clear coat.

Pic of it out in Alameda.

This is one of my favorite threads lately. To me, a large amount of the "fun" is in the thrill of the chase. If you have the time, enjoy the pursuit.

This has got to be one of the cleanest (from the outside) modded 4runners ive seen lately. Assuming its a clean title and maintenance up to date id totally go for this...mileage is decent. Mods are tasteful...just get new oem seatcovers from that guy off ebay and call it a day..:lookout:

Just read it again...its salvaged. But if youre planning on keeping it for good and wheeling it hard then who cares haha

Thanks Mike.

Flying-down to SD Saturday. Will be there for training and a conference until Wed... I'm not averse to driving home!

That said, I tend to lean more toward the first sub-gen years...

The 167K is appealing, and likely a reason he's priced as high as he is at $9,500.

A '98 Limited with the factory rear locker at 198k is being considered. He is still trying to get receipts for the WP and TB. If so, I'll likely make an offer...

Looks to have a leaky valve cover(s) though and there's a water stain on the moonroof slider. Inspection from above shows small perforations in the rubber/plastic perimeter. So, I'll factor those into the decision and any offer. Not sure what those fixes would cost, but after reading here, not all that much...

Who's sunroof doesn't leak. That's a right of passage. Valve covers shouldn't really factor much other than to show he isn't too picky about maintenance. But still nearly every 3rd Gen has this problem by 150k.
