Just use Uber. It will likely be about $20 one way.
I can see the airport from my window.
The wife and I are also based in the Bay area, it took us about 9 months of searching to find our 2000 limited with the e-locker. Although I did look on the SF Bay Craiglist, I found that 4runners were being posted, and selling for $1000 to $2000 less a few hours out of the Bay area. The one we eventually bought was on Stockton Craigslist, and we actually got a fair price on. We drove a few hours a couple times to test drive contenders that we eventually turned our noses up at. It took a while, but it was being bought as a toy, so we had the time. Good luck out there!
You'd have to trust the sticker on the timing covers (if one was used). Otherwise, it is a bit much to ask to pull the cover on a normal used car inspection... It might require removing the top radiator hose to really get an idea what is going on under there. If the TB and WP was not done, can an inspection determine that; or if those look be in need of replacement? Hoping to get the most out of this inspection...
Thanks.
Maybe you can use the fact that he can't produce proof of TB/WB maintenance in the negotiation if he is an honest and motivated seller. You'd have to trust the sticker on the timing covers (if one was used).
