Help! Stupid clutch disc question

I'm redoing the clutch in my runner. I tore it apart about 3 months ago and I can't remember which way the disc goes. Do side with the springs sticking out go toward the pressure plate or toward the flywheel? I haven't seen any threads showing this. Thanks for any help

Most OEM parts are stamped. You might need to look closely.

But the part of the hub that sticks out goes into the pressure plate, if you hold the disc up to the flywheel, you will see that it usually cannot function that way.

I finally found some info, on TTORA......

the flat side should be up against the pressure plate

And this......

The direction the springs on the clutch disc face depends on the engine type. V6 = springs toward flywheel
2.7L = springs toward pressure plate

I'm going to call Yotamasters in a little bit to get the answer

It's almost always printed on the disc, it should say "engine side" or "transmission side.

It will likely only fit one way

Every clutch Ive done its springs out, if you search clutch pictures online I dont see any with the springs going towards the flywheel. But again this can all be answered with a Chilton or Haynes manual.

I finally got to the bottom of this. I spoke with Jay at Yotamasters and he said the same thing.....

The direction the springs on the clutch disc face depends on the engine type. V6 = springs toward flywheel
2.7L = springs toward pressure plate

He added that 3.4 is the only engine Toyota did this to. All others are springs toward pressure plate. I hope this helps someone else in the future.

Pictures to confirm. The clutch plate only fits one way. Springs toward flywheel. Pictures are of the springs facing the pressure plate, when which the pressure plate can't sit correctly
