HELP: Transmission Flush

I'm in need of changing my fluid and I've read on here not to do a flush unless I know it's been done at proper intervals. I have no idea the history and its at 110k. I am at Toyota now and they told me it is impossible to drain and fill and they HAVE to do a computer controlled flush because there is NO DRAIN PLUG.

Is this true? It contradicts what I've read on here...

Huh? Are you sure they said they can't "drain and fill" and not "flush" the transmission? The transmission has a drain pug, fill plug, and drip tube plug, its true that they need to use a scantool to properly set the level (checking trans temperature within a certain range and checking the drip tube, ect) You won't get the entire transmission drained and filled in one shot, the tech will have to drain and fill the transmission at least 3-4 times (about 8qts or so of WS Fluid) to get as much of the old fluid out.

This is all assuming you have a V6 5-Speed or V8 transmission as if it does have a Dip Stick you just flush it like any other transmission.

It's very possible. I just did a complete flush with 13 quarts of toyota WS fluid this past weekend.

I also figured out how to put the vehicle in transmission temperature mode to check the fluid properly.

So glad I did this. At 50k miles my fluid was brownish red.

Print out the DIY from my thread. Tell the dealer to follow it. And tell them to use their Toyota Techstream to check the tranny temp to properly check fluid level at the end.

I guess you could educate the dealer and then let them touch the truck.

At 110k you don't need to necessarily be in a hurry to do something. There's a very wide range of opinion about how long the lifetime fluid can go. As more time passes, the more the evidence seems to suggest it is, indeed, very long lasting. YMMV

I just had my transmission serviced at Toyota yesterday. My dealer does not flush the transmission (they said they won't flush it there, only replacing the fluid). $89 and I definitely feeling tighter, smoother shifts now.
