Okay, so a couple of weeks ago I found a nice looking classic 4 runner to trade for my old motorcycle. A good trade to me, which I quickly made. I've driven it since then without any major problems. I then took it for its break in trip into the mountains. Driving on all dirt, decent roads, I come across a mud hole and say, "No Biggee." I get through it, make a nice splash and come out with a smile. But as I start going again after the hold the motor cuts out and dies due to what I feel is a wet electrical connection. Problem #1. I let the motor dry out for 30 minutes and she fires back up after a few failed tries. I go to drive away and my transfer case is stuck in what appears to be neutral and wont budge. I run the gears and let them all spin, kill the engine, restart it and the transfer case is now stuck in 4W Low. Problem #2. Both of these problems are new and boggling to me as I have never before owned a Yota. Hoping some of you gurus might have some input for me. Any and all help is much appreciated!!

The first issue sounds like you got some water in the distributor cap. Take of the cap, spray a light coating of wd40 in the cap and wipe/dry it out with a rag. Not sure on the t case...

Did you try to shift out of 4x4 in forward and reverse? Sometimes if not on a slick surface things can bind up.
The TCase problem has been fixed thankfully. I pulled the shift boot plate and the shifter was mounted with two fairly loose bolts on top of a mountain of RTV. The shifter had to have slipped out of place and was just moving in open space in there. It's now back to working condition. As for the dying issue, I washed the engine (22RE) at the car wash and made it home, but then it did the same thing as I described after the mud puddle. Took an hour to dry and was back to normal. I checked the distributor, coil, and all electrical plugs I could notice and dried them after the car washing. Does anyone else have this problem??
