Help! V8 2005 Vs 2006

Wow. That link just led me onto 20+ pages of reading & research, only to end in my ordering of a Toyota P/N #52380-60021 FRONT SUPPORT RIGHT, front differential bracket, to at least keep in my 4R until I can maybe get it "Kurt-fab'd" because I'm super-paranoid about it breaking in the middle of nowhere. Whooh. Exhausted!

Is that the '06 + bracket? I haven't looked too deeply into this but found it interesting nonetheless.

had some one replace the timing belt and water pump by self ?

ive heard of people doing it themselves but wouldnt recomend it.

I tried various online Toyota dealers, checking various years. 2003, 2004, 2008, & the same part # came up, so my assumption is that Toyota updated all to the differential support for the 2006+ (or 2005.08+).
EDIT: Looks like the diff support is also the same PN for 2012+.

OH, & just so I'm not completely hijacking this thread, my input for 4runner_lover as to which of the 2 he's looking at would be to buy the one with the least amount of rust underneath, considering it's in the N.E.

For the record, the newer front diff support has a 6 stamped on it. Presumably this is the reason I keep seeing it referred to as the '06 update, but it appeared before that and the 6 may not necessarily mean '06. Exactly when it appeared, I don't know, but my '05 has it.

Absolutely. It's a big job but if your confident and good with a wrench its doable. Many members on here do it, theres even DIY threads.

Hahaha yah...piss me off! But that's also why I love it.

If someones skill level tops out at changing spark plugs (nothing wrong with that), then I don't recommend it either but it doesn't take a rocket appliance (Trailer Park Boys anyone?) to do it.

Oh lol. I suppose it is heavier than my car but not terrible.

My garage floor is painted with epoxy paint and I park in the same spot all the time. Before the drip pan it would make a pretty good mess after a while but because of the epoxy floor it was easy to wipe up. Before my homemade drip pan most of the oil would drip on the road and at highway speed would get on the driveshaft and gas tank somewhat. I have used 4x4 quit a bit off roading in the desert. It seems it started to leak after switching to Mobil 1 synthetic oil but that may just have been a coincidence. My 4runner sees very little use anymore and just sits in the garage so I am content to just top off the t-case and clean my drip pan occasionally.

That would be the engine oil not the transfer case oil. I am not sure if the op is asking about engine oil or transfer case oil.

I use Mobil 1 5w30 High Mileage in the engine & Mobil 1 75w90 in the transfer & diffs. Works well for me. Oh, & I'm at 137k miles.
