Help w/Roof Rack on 03 Sport

How do you remove the plastic covers on the roof rack of an 03 Sport. I want to remove the outer rails and paint them black. I appreciate your help.

hey are held on with 4 claws. I think someone else has written up how they took theirs off -- you may want to check for it.

I just recently removed mine so I could drill a hole through the mounts to route wires to my rack mounted lights. Use a real skinny flathead screwdriver and start at the back of the mount where the rail comes out. Work slowly and gently until you find where the tabs are and pop them off. Once you get one you'll get the feel of it. Be careful, this plastic is fairly thin and won't take too much abuse.
