HELP!!! wiring six speaker non-JBL system

I have the '05 Camry Nav unit and I have purchased Infinity Reference components to replace the front speakers/tweeters and Infinity Reference coaxials to replace the rear speakers. I plan on installing an amp as well, but for the time being I just want to replace the speakers. I have attempted to do this with little success with the fronts. I found this wiring diagram and I am a bit confused with what to do with the stock tweeter wiring.

This is for the 6 speaker system....

Harness behind the HU:
Gray=ACC Power
Blue/Yellow=Constant Power
Brown=Ground
Pink=Front Left +
Purple=Front Left -
Lt Green=Front Right +
Blue=Front Right -
Black=Rear Left +
Yellow=Rear Feft -
Red=Rear Right +
White=Rear Right -

For the tweeters in the Front doors:

Left:
Red/Blue=Left side + input
Pink=Left side + output (then goes to woofer + side)
Blue=Left side - input
Purple=Left side - output (then goes to woofer - side)

Right:
Red=Right side + input
Lt Green=Right side + output (then goes to woofer + side)
White=Right side - input
Blue=Right side - output (then goes to woofer - side)

The stock tweeters are connected to a clip that has 4 wires comming in and two wires comming out. I have tried to use the positive and negative of the main front speakers to connect to the crossover and then out to the new tweeters and woofers, leaving the harness with the 4 wires unconnected. When I did this I got no sound. I then tried splicing together the positve and negative leads from the tweeter harness together with the main output wires, and I get a very low grade sound comming out of the speakers. I have checked my polarity and everything is connected to the appropiate terminals. What am I missing here, is there a ground that needs to be connected? I am at a loss here, if there is someone out there who has done this, please let me in on the secret to the tweeter mystery. Thanx in advance.

The stock HU & wiring is set up for four channel output, not six. In other words two channels for the rear two speakers and two channels for the front four speakers. If you look at the one of the front doors, it will have one + & one

So then I was on the right track when I spliced the + for the tweeter with the + for the main front and the same with the negative wires, and then ran those to the cross-over and from the cross-over to the new main speaker and to the new tweeter? This is the way I have it now, and the output is much softer than the stock setup (I have only done one side, leaving the other side stock). It sounds as if the polarity is reversed, only I check it and it is not. I noticed when I ripped out the stock tweeter, that it had some sort of resistor or capasitor-thingy attached. Would the fact that I have the Camry Nav unit with its own amp have anything to do with anything? I am thinking of a missing ground.

The stock front door speakers are wired in parallel. I didn't understand exactly how you wired it, but it should be something like this:

Take pair of wires (the full signal from the head unit) going into the tweeter, wire that to the crossover. Wire the crossover "high out" into the tweeter and the "low out" into your woofer.

I changed out my Tacoma stereo way back when with Infinity Separates and the sound was quite a bit lower. I bascially faded the stereo towards the front and cranked the volume.

Two reasons, your new speakers are prolly much less effecient, plus, since they are presenting a 4 ohm signal rather than ~2ohm (that is two 4 ohm speakers in parallel => 2 ohm load).

I could be wrong about all of this so take my advice with a grain of salt.

I also purchased the Infinity Reference 6000cs and the 6002i.

I haven't installed the speakers yet but I have been performing some test fits. The components fit well with the 6x9 universal speaker adapter from Scosche. However I am having some problems with the 2way 6.5s.

I purchased the 6.5 Toyota adapter from MJMAutomotiveInnovations.com and the holes for the screws do not match up. Furthermore, the adapter looks like it was homemade complete with plastic burrs all over it. I am a little disappointed....I thought the rear speakers would be much easier to install then the fronts.

I have read another post where a custom adapter was made out of 3/4 MDF for the tweeters and the rear speakers. I think that will be my next approach for installing the rears. I hope my stock NAV HU will sound much better with the upgraded speakers. I could not believe OEM speakers had paper cones.

Hopefully I can begin wiring the speakers this weekend. I will let you know of my results.

I installed both sets of speakers, and modified the existing speakers (ie: completely dismantled them) using the stock speaker brackets by cutting out the speaker and plastic supports (metal for the tweeters) with a dremel and utility knife. If you don't mind destroying the stock speakers, this is the best way to go. You won't have the issue of screw holes not lining up and all. The rear speakers were the easier of the two. I just removed the paper cones and magnets with a utility knife and a dremel and hot glued the metal ring that came with the infinitys to the stock bracket, be sure to remove any remaining paper on the rim of the stock bracket. Then screwed on the speaker with the supplied screws. the front speakers required MDF, I first used 1/2" but that was too thick and the door panel would not go back on the door flush, so I went with 1/4" and that worked perfectly. I finally figured out the wiring issue, I was a moron and thought I had everything connected properly....NOT. I was right to connect the tweeter and main speaker leads to the cross-over input, then out to the spaekers. Anyway all is well now, just waiting to install my amp this weekend. the front speakers required MDF, I first used 1/2" but that was too thick and the door panel would not go back on the door flush, so I went with 1/4" and that worked perfectly.

Did you use MDF only for your speaker adapters for the front? That is, mount the new speaker into 1/4" mdf, then into the door panel? or did you destroy your front speakers too? Did you use MDF for both for the tweeters and woofers?

Also, did you put the xover in the door somewhere? How/where did you put it?

How does it all sound?

I destroyed all my stock speakers; front mains, tweeters and rears and used those brackets. The front tweeters and mains I hot glued 1/4" MDF to the brackets. For the front mains, I hot glued and screwed the mounting ring to the MDF and screwed the speakers to the mounting ring. The tweeters just required a hole in the MDF for the included plastic screw-down mounting ring. The front door panels required some dremel work, the grill has a plastic lip that needs to be cut to allow the panel to sit flush with the door. For the rears I mounted the speakers to the stock brackets by hot glueing the metal mounting ring to the stock brackets. As far as the xovers, I mounted the drivers side one behind the kick panel where the e-brake is, up as high as possible on the firewall using plenty of double sided foam tape. The passenger side xover for now is mounted in the glove box, but I think I will move that to behind the passenger kick panel as high up as possible also with plenty of double stick foam tape. They sound pretty damn good right now, but with the Rockford Fosgate amp should sound kick-ass!!!!
