Help with 99 sr5 4x4? lift and tires and garage

I have a 99 sr5 4x4 4runner that mainly is a weekend driver for hunting/fishing/camping and garage kept. How big of lift can you go with the standard 7 foot garage door? Thank you.

Well everyone 4runner is different even with the same year models and lifts so it cant be exact but it can be said in the general ball park... U can fit 3" lift and 33s for sure but if u want u could probably fit a BL and 35s if u wanted.

Last time i pulled into the garage i was running OME 882/891s and i had about an 1/2-1" before i scraped the garage opening at the top. The reason im so close is bc i am running a rola vortex roof rack and lights on top. (The lights stick above the roof rack about an inch or so)

I have the lift listed in my signature and was able to clear my garage door by half inch. I would say the Toytec Ultimate lift or the OME lift and some 265/75/ 16"s and you should be golden. If you go with 285's you might rub and with a Body lift you might not make the opening.

old man emu and lc coil lift put my '99 limited roof line at about 7 foot 2 inches

i can clear a 7 foot 4 inch high parking structure but barely, maybe an inch or 2 of space but i also run a roof rack as well. so that may give you the clearance you need if you opt out of the basket on top.

Garage door is 84" and my stock sr5 with bald ass tires is 70" with factory roof rack. That gives me 12" for lift/tires/roofrack. What would be a good start?

well what do you want to do with your rig? is your goal simply to lift it as much as possible and still fit in your garage regardless of ride type or use?

Just a family car. I am married with an eight your old so just a weekend toy. I am not going off roading in the near future. I dont want to go crazy on the price maybe 2000 or less for tires, roof rack and lift/installed. We have some family friends that own a small garage and will give me a good cash price for labor.

i'd just go with some tall '99 coils or add a spacer and get some sweet tires, you don't really need a lift of any sort to clear 265's and look good, so yeah tall '99 coils with bilsteins or some daystars

goodyear duratrac or something a bit more mild then that toyo open country at maybe?

roof rack i say get the rola if you got the cash!

stock tall 99 coils add about and inch maybe more if you got any sag.

spacers for the most part are fine for a DD just don't go over 2 inches or so in spacers as that causes problem....

but if you want the best ride i would seriously just go with the tall '99 coils and maybe a 1 inch spacer , you can fit 265's no problem with the 99 coils.

my truck with stock 99's coils no spacers and 265's

get a few more opinions on this, as it really is a personal choice sort of thing.
and do your research there are a few different types of spacers or packers on the market one type preloads the coil and the other does not.
i have no experience with spacers on these trucks so i'm not the one to ask about that.

3 inch suspension and 1 inch body lift

I'm running the 881 OME coils up front and 890 OME coils in rear. I have a 1" body lift now as well. Had to work up some Electrical Channel (Unistrut is a brand name) mounts for the roof rack to clear my garage opening. I have removed the factory cross rails as those stick up too far to add the basket atop them.

I'm sitting at 77" now or 6 feet 5" to top of roof rack.

If you just want a bit of lift-I'd urge you to consider doing a 4crawler.com body lift first. For one thing it's less expensive and may give you the aggressive stance you desire.

Verify with your spring color codes to see if you already have the 99 tall coils-my SR5 did not have them but some may already be equipped that way.

Sonoran Steel website is a wealth of info for 3rd gen lifts.

Thank you for the great info. I bought it used and has 265/70/r16 on it now and they dont seem that large for a 4x4.

If you go with a 3" lift and 265/75-16 (~32") you will still have some room for a Yakima/bike rack on the roof. This is what I have and I still have some room to get into my 6'9" garage. (my Yokohama AT/S are big for their size) You won't be able to do a big roof basket like a Load Warrior. I know you didn't mention a rack but FYI. Sticking with a 32" tire will not need you to re-gear. You could go with a 33" but will notice some power/mpg loss. Your tire is ~31".

Remember some brands of tires measure bigger than others. They can vary by almost an inch.

I would start with measuring your clearance now and then you should be able to figure out how much lift, tire and roof clearance you will have.

(gaining 2" in tire height only raises the vehicle by 1")
