Help with AVN5435 Navigation

So I am mid-way through my install of the Eclipse AVN5435. So far I have finished installing everything but:


1:Vehicle speed pulse signal terminal (Purple/White)
Connect to the vehicle speed pulse signal terminal.

2arking brake signal (Red/White)
Connect to the parking brake signal terminal.

3:Reverse signal Wire (Green)
Connect the reverse signal output of the vehicle to this terminal.



Before I went through all of the hassle of that, I decided I would cut the system on and check out if it was working. When I go to the Navigation screen I can only select to use the EMERGENCY button. I cannot go to the next page, or press any other buttons.

Why would this be? Do I need to connect all of the wires before those will work?

Hmmmm. I only have the parking brake wired up and it works fine. Never had it hooked up without it, but it seems to make sense that without it, it would kick it into an emergency mode. I just have it grounded, so that it can play movies anytime.

Do you need the harness that has those three wires? I ask because I have a spare one that should work for that deck that you can have if you want it.

Thanks for the response man, I will ground that and see if it works.

I read somewhere that the turn by turn stuff only works if you have the vehicle speed thing connected... Does yours work?

My turn by turn directions work fine without it hooked up.

That is interesting.

And the parking brake cable, I just ground it? I don't have to hook it up, and then splice a ground into it?

So many people do so many different things on the interweb.

Yep. I grounded mine to the framing below the factory radio opening. I think some DVD decks you have to wire up to a switch in place of the parking brake line, but I would imagine that your setup is similar to mine.
