Help with diminished value

What would be a reasonable amount for diminished value for a wrecked 2014 four runner with less than 30,000 miles in excellent condition?

Damage was not that much physically say $3500 to repair. Previously the vehicle did not have any damage at all.

Yeah um $3500 in damage is not in excellent condition.

Might be better off fixing it then selling it if it is indeed $3500. Get more looks for sure at a minimum.

Any damage more people will probably low ball you more due to the fact they will need to get it fixed on their own time and dime.

It was in excellent condition - before the girl backed into my parked vehicle.

Didn't even have as much as a door ding.

This post is vauge and you have no pictures to help. What insurance company totals a mint 2014 toyota with under 30k miles on it when the damage is under 4k? The frame bent or something? That'd be a larger fix estimate if it was.

Why are you trying to sell it and not fix it? More importantly why did you buy it back from the insurance company if your not going to drive it?

Why is the other person not paying for your vehicle??? Why not get it fixed and keep driving it? Too many questions to even ask them all! This thread isn't making much sense to be honest!
 
He means even when he gets the vehicle repaired, it will show it being in accident on Carfax. This will make the vehicle less desirable, hence less valuable. The diminished value, is the LOSS of value due to the vehicle being in an accident people.

Yea, no idea how people are thinking it's totaled. I guess they don't understand what a diminished value claim is or didn't bother to read the post.
[MENTION=115066]Ezlife45[/MENTION] - I'll reply once I get an offer on my claim. Got rear ended a week ago on the highway by a Camry. Dealership quoted $4,600 to fix it including new bumper, hitch receiver, tailgate, quarter panel and paint for everything. I submitted a diminished value claim today, we'll see what they offer and how much I'll have to fight them on it. My 4runner is a 2018 with 24k miles with no damage prior to this for reference.
 
Some states use a formula by law. Others it's basically anyone's guess. It really depends on the damage. On my 4runner I had a fender bender at home depot. Not my fault. Replaced front headlight and bumper cover. Not the fender. I ended up settling for $500 in diminished value above repair costs and I dictated the repairs that were more expensive. Geico wanted to use aftermarket parts. I said no fawking way. Had it required a fender the diminished value would have gone up significantly.

Imo if it needs paint work anywhere other than bumper covers, I'd be asking for at least 1:1 with the repair costs. So $3500 in your case.

why do people keep talking about totaling? no where did OP say anything about totaling the vehicle, $3,500 won't total a 2014 4Runner with 30k miles.

[MENTION=115066]Ezlife45[/MENTION] have you asked the other driver's insurance company for diminished value yet? i'm not sure about LA but I know actually getting DV can sometimes requires paying an appraiser and all that so it's probably worth seeing their starting offer and seeing if you can avoid court. My WAG is they offer between $500-$1000, but you should ask on facebook or something for appraiser recommendations near you since diminished value laws differ by state.

My 2014 SR5 was damaged a couple years ago on the highway. Woman in front of me didn't clean off snow and ice on the roof of her car and a sheet of it flew into the front end of my 4Runner. It ended up causing around $6000 in damage.

I requested a diminished value claim and received a check for $1800. 4Runners hold their value, even after an accident
