I'm not "car smart" as the rest of you but I just recently put in HIDs in my 2002 runner sr5 and I do not want them running during the daytime. I found another thread on disabling them but it was for a 2002 Limited 4runner so it had fog lights and what not. I need help pleeease!

I also didn't bother adding a switch. I just cut the yellow and black wire, wrapped it in some electrical tape and called it good.

I have a Sport, so it also has the factory fogs and it didn't effect them at all.

That's one way, another is just pull the yellow/Black wire out of the connector.

Redneck way!!!

I like the Redneck way myself lol. I just tried that and it seems to work just pulled up 1 clik and no more DRL. Well it didnt work at first cause I had the truck already running when i did that but then after I shut it off and then restarted it they were out and the reg. lights work fine!! I dont really think the e-brake is engaged at all cause i can still rock the truck back n fourth pretty easy. Just gotta deal with the brake light on all the time.

Why not just do this??

You got it brotha!! It sucks to see the brake light (wondering if there's a way to disable it ... oh yeah, take the bulb out ... lol) but at least you'll know you don't have a serious brake issue... unless you actually do have one lol.

Just straight cut them with wire cutters?
I tried to pull those two wires out of the connectors but they wouldnt come out ?

The redneck 1 click on the parking brake method also works for those of you with dvd players in the front.

Yeah just the yellow and black one. I couldn't for the life of me get the wire to just come out on its own, and the position I was in while doing this was quite uncomfortable so I just cut it. Has worked fine since I did this a few months back, and if I ever want to have them work again I just have to grab a wire connector.

Just make sure you cut the BLACK WIRE WITH YELLOW STRIPE wire. (look at the picture in that link...it is on a side with only 1 other wire) Took me 1 minute to do it earlier. Tape the ends off.

instead of making a new thread i thought i would add my doings. here is an easy way to disable your DRL's and get them back real easy if you need it. without adding a switch.
I just cut the wires and added some connectors to both ends and now it's an easy fix in case i ever need them again
