Help with factory navigation

I have an 03 4runner with the factory JBL system and Navigation unit. I disconnected my battery for a few hours, the other day to work on my HVAC unit and when I reconnected everything, I noticed that my navigation unit wasn't responding to any touch commands (touchscreen isn't working) or button commands. I am able to listen to music through the mode button on my steering wheel controls and can raise and lower the volume and that's it. I have tried disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes and releasing the DVD for the GPS but it still doesn't work.

When I take the GPS dvd out, I get the screen that tells me to replace it and when I replace it, I get the warning screen (it's the old disc so I get the screen that says to press english or french).
When the vehicle is off, I can press the open button on the unit and it works, revealing the tape deck and cd slot but when the vehicle is on the open button doesn't work.

Anyone have any ideas on what the issue could be? Thanks for the help.

Your navigation is a 2 piece unit (meaning there is a module under the front seat, passenger I think). There is a cable, pull it out and let stand for a few minutes, then reconnect. This is what I found online. Hopefully that will solve the problem :thumb3:

Thanks for the information. I checked under the seats and didn't find anything so I took the whole back panel off and disconnected the navigation ecu then disconnected the battery for a while. After I plugged everything back in, the system reloaded then I got the same message "Audio off" and the touchscreen wasn't working. I think the touchscreen itself might be messed up, so the next step is going to be taking the radio head unit out and taking it apart. I'm going to try to find some more information on the unit itself before taking it apart. We'll see what happens. Thanks again.

Well I still can't figure out what's wrong with the touchscreen. I did notice that I can push the audio button, tilt button, and open button right when I turn the vehicle on and they will work but after the radio loads, the buttons stop working and again the touchscreen doesn't work. Is there anything that I can check that you guys can think of? Maybe I'm missing something.

Yea that's what I'm afraid of. I plan on replacing it with a carpc or something like app radio but I wanted to try to fix the factory nav so if I ever get rid of the truck I can put it back in.
