I've nosed around your site for a bit now and really like it. I have a question I'm hoping you all can help with.
I have a 89 4 runner I bought about 4 months ago, and I'm wondering in real world terms what its worth. I realize w/o seeing it a truly solid number can't be brought but if you guys could give me a starting point I'd really appreciate it. And maybe someone might be interested in it.
Its a light blue 89. Its the standard model, but is loaded, (As far as my limited toy knowledge goes) Everything but power windows.
I bought it for a run around vehicle to keep mileage off my other truck. One of my best friends is a Toy nut, and I thought it would work perfect. I was originally going to buy a rust bucket with a strong motor but came across this.
I don't know much about toyota's, but this struck me. I've seen few vehicles its age that are as straight and rust free as this one. It has a few dings here and there, and the clear coat is beginning to fade on the left rear fender, but I was amazed to find that the rear wheel wells not only had no rust, but still had the factory undercoating.
There is a small amount of surface rust on both A pilliars and on the tail gate right under the window but truly just surface.
The truck has 250 on it, and the motor was rebuilt within the last 100. I'm not sure when, but she runs strong and burns no oil. Every thing works, the AC blows cold, all the wipers work and squirters squirt, every marker light works and the rear window merriy goes up and down. The kid I bought it from put SR5 seats in it, and I was pleased to find the side huggers were adjustible, that was neat as hell (Once again, Toyota newbie)
The rear defrost doesn't work, but that is the only thing I can find. Oh and the rear end sings a bit, but there is very little lash in the driveshaft.
I guess I would imagine this truck with such a straight body would bring at least 4K?
I had pipe dreams of knocking out the small dent in the right front fender and repainting it the original color but as I'm sure all of you know guys (and gals) like us tend to have to many hobbies.
My motorcycle racing sucks up most of my cash, and I have a company car so I don't put too many miles on my other truck. So the cool little runner sits in the garage, and gets a trip around the block every week or two to keep her seals good.
