Yes but it will sound less "clean" , a personal preference for sure.
I listen to country and some rock. I want a clean hit in a sealed box. I think the JL sub will work nicely.

Being a younger guy I decided to go with 2 JL 12's in a box the size of the trunk. I have a JL 500w amp and holy cow I have bass booster and just about everything turned down and this system still rattles my teeth. Looking back definitely would have gone with a quality single 12" or 10".
the alpine mrv-500 mono amp and the JL 10Wv3v3 work great. I have more than enough base. The Sub hits hard and clean. Very happy.
