Being a younger guy I decided to go with 2 JL 12's in a box the size of the trunk. I have a JL 500w amp and holy cow I have bass booster and just about everything turned down and this system still rattles my teeth. Looking back definitely would have gone with a quality single 12" or 10".

I have JL Audio CS112RG-W3v3 Sealed PowerWedge™ enclosure with one 12" W3v3 subwoofer at Crutchfield.com. It's powered by a 700w 5-channel Kenwood amp (500w rms for sub channel) and it definitely hits hard. The box isn't that big either, and since it's pre-fabbed and loaded by JL it seems to be tuned well and sounds very clean. Judging by what you're saying though, it's probably more bass than what you're looking for, but it's great bang for you buck.
Great. I pulled the trigger on the alpine mrv-500 mono amp and the JL 10Wv3v3 2 ohm.....
NOW, I'm looking for just a plain set up speaker to swap into the doors up front. Anyone have a good idea on a specific model that would fit nicely? I'm not going to use components. Thanks guys. Your comments and suggestions really helped me out.
If you want a loud clean sounding sub look into dayton ho 12". Other options I like are IDQ12 and ssa dcon I been out the scene for a while so there maybe others for a good price. I like the alpine type r but I think dayton sounds better. For amp if you want a good price look around on ebay for oldschool amp or pay the money for jl. Rocksford fosgate and soundstream blue retro ones are decent also.
I was never a fan of JL subs they are overpriced decent subs. I have own w0-w6 and always found cheaper subs that perform better.

That's a good amp for the money. I love JL products. They last forever if not abused.

The new Rockford Fosgate POWER Series slim woofers are lights out AND available in pre-loaded enclosures which are perfect for the application! The T1S-1X12 is a 12" driver in a sealed enclosure and unlike standard "shallow" drivers a couple key patented features and technology puts this woofer in a league of it's own from a sound quality and output stand-point! Sounds amazing! Run it with their new micro POWER Series amplifier, the T500X1br if your concerned about space or a T500X1bdcp if you're not...it's a sick set-up...I've done a few!

I have a 12" W1 and that thing hits like Mayweather. The W3 is two steps up i think so you should be more than fine.
