Help with my subwoofer selection please

I've decided to add a subwoofer or two to my 4runner. At 32 years old, I'm no longer trying to blast out the car next to me, I just want a hard hitting bass to go with my pioneer 930 nav unit. I already have some nice JL speakers in the door.

I have two questions:
1. will a single 10" hit pretty good in the 4runner? I am currently looking at a 10" JL linked below.

2.is it okay to mount the amp under the passenger seat and run wires all the way to the sub in the rear? I want to be able to quickly remove the sub when I need the cargo space.

I have the 2 ohm version of the JL 10W3V3 sub in my 1999 4Runner. I am running one sub in a sealed box. Pushing it is this Kenwood amp.

This pounds really well. Like you, I am a little older and I am more into sound quality than total sound level. I think you will be happy with your choice. Although, I would consider the 2 ohm version so you can take advantage of more power from the amp.

Also, you should be fine installing the amp under your passenger seat. I installed mine under the rear passenger seat in the void where the bottle jack goes. It hasn't caused any overheating issues and I can easily disconnect my sub when I need to lay the seats down and haul large items in the back.

The NEW Rockford Fosgate Power Series T1 slim subwoofers are the best in the business in my opinion...and I deal with audio on a daily basis! These new drivers, introduced this year, don't suffer from the typical "shallow" subwoofer boingy sound...they sound like a natural driver with full extension and best of all are available in pre-loaded enclosures so you can go with a single sealed 10"/12" or a single ported 10"! I've been blown away, no pun intended, every time I've heard these woofers!

I mounted that same kicker amp under my passenger seat. Ran the wiring to the trunk and left a few feet of slack in the wire to move the sub around or remove it when extra space is needed. For my sub I went with a 10" kicker slim box. It kicked enough for me.

I have a shallow mount JL10TW3 which I power with 700 Watt at 2 Ohm (RMS) and it handles it like a champ. It plays good and takes zero space in my cargo area since I integrated it into the factory location

My set up is pretty much just like what you are asking...

I have a JL 250.1 amp under the passenger seat running to a single JL 10w1v2-4 in the back. It's been in for at least the past 5 years & I've never had any issues and the sound is great for my 40+ year-old ears.
