Help with Seafoam on V8

OK guys here is a pic with the V8 cover removed. So which hose do I put the Seafoam in, the large hose towards the bottom of the pic or the thinner hose towards teh top?

I vote for where I place the red arrow. To be sure pull the rubber when it's idling and you should hear a hiss and the idle should become unstable momentarily. Worst case it'll turn on the check engine light. If you do it fairly quickly it shouldn't. If you need a bigger opening the one next to it would work but it won't stay running with that one pulled.

You mean that small inlet with the rubber "cap" on it? or the acutal hose to the right of your arrow?

From some of the posts I have read here it is "worth" it. With gas now at $ 4.00/gal here I am willing to experiment to increase my mileage. Just dumping a can in the gas tank cannot possibly do the "cleaning" that Seafoam claims. I also have invested in a full synthetic change for the T4R which will happen in the next week or so, engine, transfer cases etc.
I did the wifes 2000 Civic with 88,000 mi. last night. It was an extreme smoke show and now the car idles and accelarates like new. Obviously its too early to measure any gains in MPG yet. However, I am getting about 5 MPG increase in that car using Acetone already.

I didnt mean to say anyone was wrong buy doing it more involved . I just did the gas tank thing and it worked wonderful for me . Really seemed to do a nice job in smoother throttle response , smoother idling , and my gas milage has been excellent for the type of truck I drive. It seemed to work very well.
I was thinking of doing it every 5k miles when I change my oil.

no problem. I didnt realize that just doing the gas tank would produce the same, or similar results. Did you put the whole can in at one time?

I could give theSeafoam in the tank thing a try and I will since anything might help but I will be avoiding any acetone in the tank after the research I did it is a bad idea on a modern engine. Straight acetone over time will hurt rubber components along the gas lines and my tuner friend showed me some of the damage that occured on some Hondas in his shop and said to avoid it.
He says people are more excited about the minimum MPG gain and the better octane rating that they simply don't care and ignore long term results and they sell their vehicles to an unsuspecting buyer before they have to pay the price.

Can you provide some more data with you opinion? How long is long term, 2 yrs, 5 yrs, 8 yrs, or is it more like months? The research I have done does not support the idea that the acetone used in the suggested does will affect any rubber components in the engine.
Also, I am getting an additional 6 MPG (city) on the Civic right now. Thats 60 more miles per tank, with gas being $ 4.00/gallon here I dont consider that minimal.
Just my thoughts, not trying to be a smart a$$.

My Toyota dealer sells it at the parts counter for like $18.99 per can I bought it elsewhere for $6.00....lol. (so shop around)
I put mine in with a full tank of gas . I cant remember exactly but the mixture was like a can for 25 gallons or something like that. close enough for me .

Can anyone tell me which hose to use for the seafoam? I find it hard to believe it would be the small input with the rubber cap on it. I would think is needs to be a hose with some type of vacum..

Hope I am right!
I did the SeaFoam this afternoon in my Fuel Tank, my Crankcase, and my Intake! My Dad put a small tube from the SMALL INLET with the CAP into the can and it 'SIPPED' in a third of the can! We let it sit for five minutes and then started it up again. Not a lot of Smoke really, but then again I blew up a Celica once and that was ALOT OF SMOKE!!! So it might have been my expectations were a little off.
Anyway put about 35 miles on the 4R afterwards and all appears good.
Of course I do think that the 56K or so miles I have isn't goign to show that much of a difference as would 150K or so!
That's my experience, good luck

Excellent. I will do the seafoam into the intake this week. Have you seen any increase in MPG after the seafoam?

And where I would normally see CPU mileage of 17.4 I am showing 18.8!
Not scientific by any stretch but it is something to think about.....

Sounds good. like I said I did the wifes civic last weekend. Normal conditions before seafoam and without Acetone I was getting 240-250 miles per tank (10gal. tank). After seafoam and still no Acetone I have 173 mi. on a half tank!! Thats a HUGE improvement! I cant wait till the next tank when I add some Acetone.
