Help!

I can't get my fuel filter bolt (the one on the IN side) to screw back in. I had some trouble getting it off but now I can't get it back in and I need to get to work soon. It screws in a little bit and then it just pops back out, I'm pretty inexperienced so I need your help

got pics of what your talking about? is it the fuel line or the mounting bracket?

its the fuel line, in the picture its screwed in a little bit, if i did it anymore it would pop out. i tried starting it with that and it leaked fuel

try lossening the bolt/nut for the bracket so the fuel filter has some play/movement and then try to thread in the line. you are close, just its off a little bit you will need some patience and just keep working with it, you will get it, they are a PITA some times take your time and once its in it will just thread all the way in

if you try the above and still can't get it I would take a close look at the threads and make sure they are both okay at this point.

Ok so I came home from work to give it a try again, i took it off the bracket and tried every which way and its still not going, i even tried the old filter and it wont work there either. I think it might have something to do with the bolt on the fuel line, if it is how would I go about replacing that?

Did you slide the nut all the all the way forward on the hard line? Take the filter OFF, then try putting the line in.

Whatever you do, DON'T CROSS THREAD IT!

If you think it's on the filter side, there's nothing you can do but try and take it back and get a new filter.

Make sure the line is pushed all the way into the filter before you even slide the fitting up to the filter. You'd be surprised how far into the filter the line will actually go.

I've tried over and over again and I still can't get it, I think it might be the threads, heres a couple pictures

those threads are defiantly rounded but i dont think they are beyond use... but it might be easier at this point to go to toyot and get a new fuel line

I would tape up the end of the fuel line and run a die over the threads to try and clean them up. if you don't have a die in the right size a small file would probably be enough to clean up that first thread. Normally I would throw out a thread size to try to help you out, but this one I don't know off the top of my head.

use a blade and clean the thread that is damaged at the very beginning.

Remove the filter from the truck. Install the line coming from the tank to the filter and then the line going to the engine. After doing all these, mount the filter to the truck. Always remember when you are dealing with rigid tubes/lines to a filter, brake cylinder/caliper/master pump etc, attach the lines by hand and finally mount the unit to the truck.
