Help!!!!!!!

Ok coming back from town, everything running great about 60 mph and it was like someone turned off the key, it just went dead. Once I got pulled over I tried to restart, motor turns over no problem, lights work , dash lights work, windows rolled down, radio works, but no fire, pulled plug wire, no spark, pulled the coil wire no spark. Checked all the fuses, all good. I am at a loss and not knowing that much about Toyota's, and the electrical workings I am stumped..

I checked the coil and it has power going to it but nothing coming out. I felt it had to be the coil or the igniter, if power is coming from the igniter to the coil and nothing to the distributor, I would half to think its the coil.

Well that wasn't it. I replaced the coil and ignitor with new ones, no power. I traced the red & black wire into the firewall, but not inside yet. A fuzes check out ok, hope its not the computer. The check engine light on the dash is not coming on so doing a malfunction check is out of the question.

Not to my knowledge, it's a 1993 4 runner v6 auto. When I was testing I had power to the hot side of the coil, now nothing. As I said it just shut down instantly, no stumbling or missing, like the key was turned off so I feel its electrical and I noticed I have a wire hanging down from the diff, but haven't crawled under to see where it comes from yet. Could be the wire from the speed sensor.

I was thinking, could it be the ignition switch, the motor cranks in start mode, the radio works in accessory, but the check engine light does not come on. Again not sure just how these things are wired but if there is no power in the run position ????

Interesting info, called the Toyota mech explained my problem, power to turn the motor over but no start, he ask if there was power to the ignitor, no, he said that the black and red wire is the one that brings power to the ignitor from the ignition switch, to test, jump a wire from the hot side of the battery to the red and black wire on the ignitor. I told him that my check engine light was not on and he said that was due to the fact that the computer is not getting power from the switch, so it looks like the ign switch is the problem. there is also a 40 amp fuse in line, I checked it and it appears to be ok.

Sounds like an ignition problem. Cant really say its the switch tho, but i wont say its not.
