Hi there, I am interested in buying a 4Runner/Surf. There are numerous Japanese imports available here in Botswana for as little as 50000 Pula ($6000). I have joined up so I can find out as much info as possible before deciding on buying one. Local info tells me the 2.7 petrol is real thirsty and the diesels are prone to overheating problems. Please those who have 4runners/Surfs, please comment on your various vehicles to help me make an educated decision as I know very little about the vehicles.

First off welcome to our little community we have. Might want to go into the 3rd Gen section and fire off the questions you have about the Surfs Etc. We in the US market do not get the diesel option. SUCKS! Good luck on the search there is a TON of information in this place if you take the time to read it all before buying. I can assure you, you will be ahead of the game for sure.
