Can hi lift be mounted safely on OEM roof rack? I don't have aftermarket bumpers so my options are limited where I can mount it. I am leery of carrying it inside as it may cause serious injuries in case of an accident.

I'm considering mounting on top of the bull bar on my ARB - not sure if others have done that but lots of Jeeps hood mount em at the hinge crease.
Mines mounted inside using Sonoran steel hi lift mounts. I installed the mounts on top of my tool box. Toyota 4Runner Cargo Area (1996 to 2002) $40.00 & 7.15 USPS - $47.15 : Sonoran Steel, Sonoran Steel Custom Metal Fabrication L.L.C. Custom Toyota Truck Parts
One of the reason why I don’t want to mount it outside. Is because once you use it. The paint will get scratched up. Then rain will make it rust. Then you’ll get rust drop spots on your truck. I had a shovel mounted on the side of my roof rack. After using it it rusted. Then once it rained, it stained my window !
