Hi guys, just picked up a 97 4runner, and was so excited when I found this site. Good to see that so many others love this truck as much as I do. Well, nice to be here, and Ill see you guys around the forum :)

Naw, open up your wallet, and make sure the maintenance is up to date. Especially on the could cost you a lot more things like the "pink milkshake" & "LBJ" failure. After that just you can give your wallet a bit of a recovery period.

I'm pretty new here myself and this forum has been an awesome place. I've learned an incredible amount the last 2 weeks. Obviously, your maintenance list depends on the quality of your vehicle, but LBJs and an external tranny cooler are a great place to start. 4-Ripcord has an excellent thread regarding maintenance issues:

Hey guys, sorry its taken me so long , I've had alot of personal issues come up over the summer. My 4runner isn't very exciting haha, just a forest green 97 on aluminum rims. I love the way they look when painted black, so I'm going to see if I can get that done before the winter. I was browsing through the pics, some of you guys' trucks look awesome!
