HID bulb out?

My recently installed Morimoto mini d2s HID retrofit was working fine before today. The passenger side is not firing up. Its only been a couple weeks since I installed it. What could've gone wrong? I have no previous experience with HIDs but from what I've read these bulbs dont just burn out, not so soon anyway. Could it be a defective ballast? How do I diagnose it?

Swap the ballast from one side to the other and if the bulb doesn't work on the opposite side then it would be the ballast. Same thing with the bulbs.

Lol yeah mine just float around behind the headlight I would have to guess that it is a bad ballast. How cold was it up there when it started? Mine weren't firing when we had a couple of those 20 bellow days.

Actually it was pretty cold, like -20 before this happened. It just started to warm up for the past couple of days.

So I swapped the bulbs and the same side is out. The ballast seems to be bad. I wonder if TRS has warranty on them...

Depending on how new your ballasts are they had a defective batch, where the igniter wouldn't work correctly at colder temps. They've update the ballast and it now says DSP on the casing and description of the new ballasts. Send them an email with your problem, what you've done to troubleshoot and they should take care of the rest for you. My replacement set is en route currently, luckily it's for my Lightforce's and not the headlights.

They sent me a new ballast today. You wouldn't believe it but shortly after I got an email from TRS that it has shipped I get in my runner and the other side isn't firing up. It was pretty cold today, like -30C with windchill. Maybe the temp still affects it? I'll see tomorrow when its +7. The weather up here has been stupid for a couple of days. One day its +10 and sunny, next 20cm of snow, next -30, tomorrow +7)))

How good are your grounds to ballasts?? The ballasts convert the voltage from 12 all the way to the 10's of thousands of bolts. If you don't have a good ground, it's going to reduce the power available to igniting the bulbs.

I've not had a problem with mine, even in -30 F, ha

I found something else, I'm not getting power to the connector that plugs into the ballast. I'm getting power at the stock headlight connector as well as the relay in the harness but nothing at the ballast connection...

Ok yeah I forgot to check the fuse which was blown. Replaced it, turn it on and it blows right away, then I put a 30a instead of a 25a and same thing, it blows... I don't understand whats going on...

Double check the wiring on your relay. Sounds like power is going straight to ground.

Can I check that with a multimeter and how?

Its also weird because they worked fine for a week... Could this cause a ballast to go bad or the relay? I've checked my grounds with a tester light but thinking about now, it might have been an improper way to do it...
