I got it from HIDconcept, they were the cheapest online. The philips bulb use a diff. connector, not the AMP connector use by the Mcculloch. I had to splice in the AMP coneector and insulated with some high voltage electrical tape.

Thanks for taking the time to post your experiences with our product/company and your pictures =)

Boston_Runner - the Mcculloch kits are completely different than our kits. Exterir may be the same however the actual components in the kits are different.

We used to seel the Philips based kits however we stopped doing this several monhs ago. We have actually found that the colour output and brightness of the bulbs used in the Xtreme kit very similar to Philips specifications. The bulbs used in our Xtreme kit are modeled after Philips bulb specifications.

I noticed that some of you were thinking about purchasing this kit for the holidays.

With the holidays around the corner, for those of you thinking of ordering a kit for XMAS and would like to receive it by XMAS I would suggest ordering sooner than later to ensure you have it for the holidays.

HID Install

I recently installed a kit from Xenon Depot. When i get in my runner in the morning the clock has reset and the windows have lost the memory function. I still have my presets on my radio but it appears that I am losing just enough power to make the clock and windows reset. What could be causing this problem?

Just ran into an owner of a '00 4Runner with the "non-fluted" lens and 5000k HIDs.

They work MUCH better than my '97's lens'! There is much less glare (no more than an '07 Escalade -- Have you seen those lights??), I'm searching for new housings.

I have the 4300k kits in my '07, and they are saweet with those projectors! After seeing the HIDs in the '00 housings, I think it's worth the switch. I know...it's not a retrofit, nor a true "projector" housing...but hey...

Take a flat screwdriver and push the tab inside the projector on the shield. Once you get the shield pushed near vertical or flush with the sides, it's all done. The tab could break if you want to reverse the elimination and bring the squirrel finders back. I don't see any reason why you want them back, but just FYI.

thanks Uneek to give out instruction, just FYI, after pushing the tab down, fire up the headlights, if there's any unusual "ufo" type of rainbow above the cut-off, then you may want to use some aluminum tape to tape up the area on the shield, since there maybe a slit allows light escape through, so don't push the tab too far in.... try it out little by little.

Thanks to both for this information.

We have a X5 with factory HID's and the lights give a straight line with a short verticle rise where the passanger side is slightly higher than the drivers side. I would like to get this same effect with the T4R....and now it looks like it is possible.

Lawwailok, I recently purchesed an HID kit for my 04. I also bought the 06 projectors, and am going to be installing next weekend, but I'm nervous about these squirrel finders. What exactly do you push up with the screw drivers, and do you have any trouble seeing road signs at night? Like in a not heavily trafficked area.
 
Before you install the projectors into the truck, just take out the low beam bulb and look inside. You'll see the cut off shield, and in the middle of the shield you'll see that it's stamped out with a flap that's hinged from the upper part of it. Push that flap in 'till it rests against the rest of the shield. That will cut off the squirrel finding feature, reduce glare, and improve the cutoff of your HID kit.
 
I recently got the H11 kit from XD, after having HID withdrawals for the past 2 years. The stock projo/halogens are better than your typical reflector, but no match for HIDs. Great service from XD and the kit went in very easy in about 2 hours. So far so good, def worth the money. IIRC XD does still have a Philips based kit for 4300K...

I've installed HID in every car i've owned to date and kits are getting cheaper and cheaper. My first kit cost me over 300 dollars and now the one for my 4runner cost me 56 shipped. Hell the 56 dollar kit took me less then 10 mins to install and was more plug in play then my 300+ kit. Jump on Ebay and order yourself a nice cheap Chinese kit and it will be the best money you've ever spent. My last three have been running over 3 years and not a single hick up and if it doesn't for 56 bucks u wont complain trust me.
 
are these kits still decent when used with an 03-05 Non-Projector Headlight? I know a projector will work better but I don't have the money or resources to do a retrofit.
