HID kit installed but not working correctly

local shop sold me a "World HID" 4300 kit, said it was the best. They installed it, and it has not worked correctly yet. After a couple of weeks they replaced ballasts, but still not right.

Have an '04 Limited V8; on Auto, lights dont come on at all. Using manual to turn lights on, right side always comes on; driver side usually requires you to turn them on, off, on, off a few times and will usually come on. Driver side never comes on right away, always requires you to turn on-off several times.

Obviously not right, but they say they have checked voltage, all that, everything should work correctly but does not.

Any ideas? I have never had a problem with my 4Runner, its been totally bulletproof since delivery.

I'm thinking of replacing it with another kit, at another $300 bucks of course, as I love the white lights (when they work of course) but wanted to get your expert opinions first.

Thanks in advance

Sounds to me they just sold you one of the notorious "BS" HID kits. Every company claims theirs is the best. Just go with a company you have heard reviews from. I went with XenonDepot, as have many others on this forum. Just get the shop to refund you, since they probably gave you a run for your money, and order a new one. Mine was $224+shipping and haven't had any problems. It's about a 30 minute install.

yeah, hate to admit it but I trusted them and oh well.... Now that they have my $$ and several trips worth of my time, I cant even find World HID on the internet, probably some cheap knock off that doesnt even have a website.

I've seen postings that seem to point to xeondepot as the best place to buy; is that where you got yours?

any suggestions on which mfg to order, which specific kit? I had put the Silverstar ultras in the high beams, like those better than stock.

I love the HID look, have them in our RX330 and really like the white light though when the kit works in my 4Runner, the light is actually better over long distances than the Lexus lights. Guess its too much to ask for it to consistently work when you turn the switch on though.

Does yours work when the switch is set to auto, or do you have to turn off manually?

also, I've seen the stock fog lights with what appears to be white bulbs, white vs yellow. Any suggestions on that change as well while I'm learning from folks on this forum?

www.XenonDepot.com is their website. Just look up the correct kit for you depending on your year. The 4300K kit is what I have, and it's pure white. Click the HID kit link in my signature for pictures of it. If you want a blue-ish light output, then go with the 5000K. 4300K has the greatest amount of light output though.

I only use my lights manually. I have a sport edition, as as far as I know, auto comes on Limited models.

I got mine from AutoXen.com. Made in Japan and top notch customer service.

I ordered the 8000k kit and it's been awesome. Just do some research and choose your company wisely.

Hi Sel1005,

I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. I'm not sure if you saw our promotional pricing but we are currently offering our Xtreme kits for $199.99 to members of this forum.

Any special deal if you buy 2 sets... One for the lows and one for the fogs ?

Thanks, I got the XeonDepot set and installed them. Easy enough, even for a total non-techie like me. Have had zero problems with them, they have operated exactly like I had wanted them to from the first time they fired up.

sorry, hit send too soon.

I would also be interested in any special deals since the lows have been so good and the service / support is top notch.

Hi,

I can definitely work with you. Please send me a PM with what colour temperature you are interested in. It would be my pleasure to help you out.

Steve
