HID Kits

yes, if you did not buy a bi-xenon kit then when you turn on your high beams, the hid will turn off and the tiny blue bulb will turn on. But if you bought a bi-xenon kit then the blub will move up and down in the capsule making it a low/high beam.

I just realize that this section is the selling section. I don't sell but if anyone is interested in bi-xenon i can get the hookup meaning that i do not make any money off of it.

2 questions

1: how much (just curious since i already bought a non bi kit)

and

2: are you sure that when you turn the high beams on that the hid doesnt stay on and the blue bulb comes on?

that just wouldnt make any since for the HID to go off and the tiny bulb on?

yes, the hid bulb will turn off and the blue bulb will turn on. the blue bulb is positioned at the same spot as a regular h4 bulb in high beam. if the hid bulb were to stay on with high beam on, u would not be able to see the light output of the blue bulb.

cost is 220 shipped. it might not seem true but i'm not making profit. you're dealing straight with the company.

question

hey newbie here, just picked up an 03 runner, lookin to retro mines, i love that projection look u got a kit for that?

if you have an 03, they are hologen headlights, you'll have to retrofit your headlights if you want projectors. Good ones would be tsx, tl, and e46. Search the forums if you need help on that.

You can have a hid kit on projectors or hologen headlights, just some members are light output maniacs about the glare that hologens produce so its up to you if you want hid kit in your hologens or not.

But i do know how you can get a kit regardless.

im wondering how 8000K will look on my 3rd gen?? Im soo pumped about it too, theyll be coming in tomorow, well see what happens.

in an honest opinon, 8000k makes it even more aftermarket but hey, they're still brighter than hologens. YOu should have went with the 6000k thought. Best of lucks and post pictures when u get done

thnx

thanx for the info, i prob gonna look to retro mine hopfully soon...

is the "USUAL" thing that is done here for a 4 runner fanatic, the retro fitting way? or just addin the hid straigt in? or is it just a matter of personal preference???

ok so i got my HIDs in and installed yesterday but i can not for the life of me figure out how to make the high beams work:mad:

where the wires plug into the stock piece that would normally go into the bulb, ive tried every combination and none of them would allow the regular HIDs on and then the high beams when i pull the headlight arm back.

PLEAASE can someone help me and explain, i know there are 3 places on each to plug the wires in and one of the wires has 2 wires going into it and i beleive thats the ground and i had that one on top and the other black wire on the left and the power(red wire) on the right. But when i pull the arm to turn my high beams on they flicker then go out.

any help appreciated, also this is on a 3rd gen.

thanks!

Can you provide pictures of your kit? Where did you buy the kit from? if ebay, most of the times, ebay kits are only hid beam functional, blue bulbs are for show. Or possibly, the blue bulbs are already blown. But with pictures, i can help you try to solve your problem

i bought them off ebay the brand is Tenon. The high beams are halogen bulbs and if i switch the wiring around i can get those on but not the HIDs ill snap some pictures tonight when i get off work. i know the brights work i just have to figure out how to wire them to get them to work with the HIDs and was looking for someone else with a 3rd gen to help out

i guess i misread your post. i thought that either your low beam was working or with the oposite with the high beam working and not low beam. If you hooked it up and your low beam comes on and when you switch to high beam, your low beam goes off and your high beam comes on then there is nothing wrong with your wiring. But if what you're trying to do is keep both beams on at the same time then i don't think its possible. And as i mentioned before, if you do somehow to get it to work with high/low beam at the same time, then u won't be able to see your high beam anyways, simply because of the low beam is way too bright for that lil high beam to show any sign of it being on. Best of wishes.

ok sorry ill try and explain this a little better.

when i first wired the 3 wires into each harness, i had to try different combinations to get the HIDs to work when i turned my head lights on, some combinations would make the halogen bulb come on when i turned my lights on and some combinations made the HIDs turn on when i turned my headlights on and some just didnt work. And through all of these when i tried my brights, none of them worked, and most of the time, when i tried the brights with the combination where my HIDs worked then they would flicker and go out when i tried to turn on the brights.

So then i tried having one side wired and the other side wired differently and that came closer, i got the brights and the HIDs to work on one side but the brights werent that bright as they were when they were both on, like it was draining power and didnt have enough or like it just wasnt wired right.

Below i have attached an image of what my wiring harness looks like, that it what was before, plugged into the 3 prongs coming off of the halogen bulbs before i had the HIDs.

and thats where i have everything now, i just need to know if thats right or how to change each side to make the HIDs and the brights work, and also yes i understand there not at the same time.

did your kit come with a relay? sounds like the hid is taking too much power to spark up the hid. if it did come with a relay then it should be drawing power from your battery and you wouldn't have a problem with the dimmest of your hid.

Can you post up a picture of your headlights when you described that you have both the low/high beam working. I just want to make sure that it is working properly and that the high beam is just too weak to be seen through the hid low beam.

I'm surprise though that it didn't come with the matching socket so that your wiring would have been easier. I would have given up.

i had a few problems like that before on my kit , i changed to the three prongs , also on the plug that goes to the ballast switch the wires on those too.. and another reminder.. mount the ballast somewhere far from any wiring or sensors.. especially ABS sensors or Airbag sensors .

ok good, i was hoping you would respond since you have the same setup as me. Would you tell me on each headlight, which wires you put where in the end? and also the pos. and neg. wires that go to the ballast i thought had a little + and - on the ballast showing were to put them.

and finally i have one ballast mounted on my airbox and the other one is in between my quarter panel and battery. Do you think thats ok?

thats ok where u mount those , as long as when you drive your vehicle it doesn't have any lights in the dash .. as to the wiring .. i have to go home afterwork and check it out for you.. since i am at work now and i have my wife civic .. sorry.. but i'll keep u updated tonight .. But , from what i remember .. on the 3 prongs .. the red wire would go in the center top , the two blk wires would go on either sides .. i would switch only the blk wires if when you turn it on and it flickers and off , i would switch the wires to the ballast if it doesn't turn on at all .. but i'll check it out and make sure tonight .. ok.. Mike

hey sorry about not following up on the hid wiring .. but did you figured it out yet since i didn't see u post anything up.. but thats all you really have to do .. just switch those wirings only.. and if that doesn't work then u should get another one.. probably that bulb or the ballast is a defect ..
